The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Good morning after the morning after the eclipse. How's all y'all a doing, yestiday seems forever away, and tomorrey seems a long ways off. Irish cream with no added punch. Sorry slipped into Okie-speak.

good to see you weren't turned to a zombie... or whatever.

only the regular black coffee for the moment. It's strong though.

i also have cakes

I got to sleep in this morning.
I woke up at 10:09 AM.
Took the usual 30 minutes for my knees and back to thaw out and uncork.
My daughters made me an omettle for breakfast and put it in the fridge for me, so I heated that up with my coffee.

I hope everyone got some sleep and has had a good morning so far.

It's cloudy today, with a 100% chance of rain. I don't even have to check the weather to know it, because I have eyes and can see the rain. I keep hearing CCR: Who'll stop the rain?, in my head. It's very crowded in my head today.

No, it isn't. Stop that I said it was.

We are under a Flood Watch here in Northwest Ohio.
Going to rain damn near non-stop for the next 2.5 half days.

Bright and calm here with the temps heading over 70F. I was greeted by the scent of lilacs this morning when I stepped out to get the newspaper. Not a bad way to start the day.

Lucky you! 😱
Yes and no.

Yes, in that I wanna see all the reservoirs, rivers, ponds, lowlands, etc, filled up with water, before the dog days of summer arrive.

No, because that means all my daughters friends will be coming to my house, if the power goes out. None of their damn parents have a backup generator.

High winds in the forecast for today and 95% chance of heavy rain tomorrow. That means I need to make sure my laptops are charged up and ready for the outage.

Oops! Where'd the day go? I need to pull myself together and take off for the nose doctor in a half hour. The spontaneous epistaxis (bloody nose) has been a big problem in the past week, and C (and I!) are getting tired of the mountains of bloody tissues overflowing the trashcans. Oh, it's been loads of fun, with it sometimes taking 20-30 minutes to stanch the gushers.

Supposed to have heavy rains tonight, but we'll see. Weatherfolk have had some trouble forecasting for our little microclimate, so we're either to expect nothing, or 3-4". Pick one.

Oof. Went for a hike in the woods with my parents. It's embarrassing to be way more exhausted than a pair of octogenarians, one with a replaced hip and leukaemia, but there we are. My second hike this week, so with a bit of luck I can build some strength up again.

But my brain still works. So do theirs, really, just more slowly and getting worse attention span all the time. It's got a lot more noticeable in the last year. They're also desperate to give me loads of stuff to take home, even if I'll recycle it or give it to charity or Freecycle it (I live in part of London where people will take anything free - they're in a rural area so can't do that), very much in 'preparing for downsizing in the next couple year's mode.

I'm very glad they're sorting through a lifetime of possessions so I won't have to do as much when one or both die, but it does rather put the concept into everyone's mind. Dad makes jokes about not damaging furniture so it's fit for me to inherit, which does imply it's on his mind. They're still planning holidays and home improvements, which is reassuring.

Exercise ?
I really should be doing some; my inability to get up and goin' is really no fun.

Is there any coffee in the pot please ?

All is dark, power went out nearly an hour ago, my pleas for help have gone unanswered. The village is dark, even the neighbors moron rooster is silent (the way it's raining the stupid thing may have drown)

Flashlight is dying...

Buckets to bail out the garage are ready ...

Tell @HeyAll my entry for On The Job may be late...

Heavy rain here but no power outages. Having a power substation next to your neighborhood means power never goes out unless the whole grid goes down. Hope you get the power back soon. Meanwhile, I'll put on a pot of coffee, but since I'm not a coffee drinker, I won't guarantee that it's any good ...

I don't know if it's eerie, but it does show the immense power of the sun in our climate.
That's got to be the most, "No shit, Sherlock," statement I've read in a very long time. The sun is the  primary source of energy in the earth's climate. I guess there might be tectonic forces in the mix, but they're going to be miniscule by comparison.
