Sex & Shenanigans

Lived on Colorado for awhile, experienced the full spectrum of hippies and am better for it. I've become a slightly "crunchier" or granola hippie now.
Years ago, I worked in Salem, Oregon and a guy there referred to "granolas" which I thought was one of the funniest interpretations I had ever heard. Still makes me laugh... but I wouldn't eat granola even if you paid me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love granola, but I'll also eat raw oats so... 🤷🏻
For what it's worth, I don't like most foods. I truly think there has only been one discussion about food here that I have seen, that was of something I would eat. It isn't easy being the one who doesn't eat anything (almost anything)... I don't recommend it at all.

It's probably a great weight loss plan. Unfortunately, I enjoy most things I eat.

As someone who eats almost anything, with an SO that eats barely anything, I find it super interesting (and a little bit sad that she doesn't enjoy the things I do). Can I ask, are you a flavor person or a consistency person? My SO won't eat anything that feels wrong. Nothing too mushy, nothing too crunchy. Steak works. Fried tofu works. Boiled potatoes work, but mashed ones do not. Pasta, if al dente, is alright, but lasagna just gets flung out the window.

The consistency is definitely important, but so is the flavor and the smell. Any of those three being wrong is enough for me to be kind of grossed out.

Oh yeah - I hate having people tell me "try it - you'll like it!!". Because in my over half century of life, I have never tried something and "liked it".

And it is astounding how often women will make it into an ego thing about them - "oh, she'll like this because everyone likes my blah blah blah".  🤣🤣🤣

So - since it is considered rude not to try stuff, or finish what is on my plate (good way to teach people to over-eat), I just avoid it all.

Edit: I just realized it says "I have never tried something and liked it"... that isn't what I meant. I have never tried something someone was shoving in my face saying "try it!!" and liked it. I have tried stuff because I was curious and wanted to try it, and liked it. I just don't react well to being bossed around.

I used to work for a guy who literally would eat anything. And after working for him for years, and him giving me shit for not eating "anything", I found out his wife (who I had known for years) actually was just like me and didn't eat much. He just took his aggravation about it out on me. Thanks boss.

I grew up poor, now somewhere in the middle, and I still think like this, and I try so hard not to pass it on to my kids. I just tell them they can have as many small portions as they like, so as not to waste, but stop when you're full (or sooner). Saturday night, out to eat with my folks, and my mother just had to eat every bit of the appetizer so it didn't go to waste. 🤦

I totally get it. Just, after a lifetime of watching other people who enjoy food eat... it is very obvious to me, they don't stop eating when their body says they are full (like I do). They stop eating when there isn't food in front of them.

As someone with no dog in the fight, it just seems to me to be how to disrespect what your body is telling you - or how to teach your kids to disrespect what their body tells them. Just my little observation, I'm not saying I am right. 🤷‍♀️

I 100% agree with what you just said.

I don’t disagree that teaching that you MUST clear a plate is not the healthiest.
But I do think there’s a place for eating past full sometimes because the food is so fucking good.

My body tells me I’m done after one (sometimes two) orgasms. But that doesn’t mean that it’s bad to push it for another one or two sometimes 🤭

That's a whole different appetite discussion!
I e eaten food so good I had a mouthgasm and just couldn't stop. To me, that should be the exception and not the rule - eating more than you, that is.
