Day 13: A song you’ve seen performed live

Sarah McLachlan - Adia

I'm a huge fan. I wanted to see her when they were doing the Lilith Fair again in the early 2000s but it got cancelled where I was going. So, I got to see her about twelve years later in an intimate setting where she played acoustically with only two other musicians and one backup singer. It was fantastic.

+1 if the artist is a woman

Total so far: 23

Day 13: A song you’ve seen performed live

We were on the field just to the left of that walkway part of the stage that night. It was standing room only, and we got there early enough that we ended up right on the wall with nobody in front of us. This was my first time seeing the Stones, and it’s one of my favorite concerts I’ve ever attended.

Day 13
You Oughta Know - Alanis Morissette
+1 (=17)

I remember someone saying her voice causes sensory issues which I totally get and I apologise to you.
I saw her a long while ago when she was touring Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and this, her most iconic (not ironic haha) song, was a really special moment

So freaking cool! Love her.

Ok... I'm going to be doing this a lot. Sorry...

Day 13: A song you’ve seen performed live
(+1 = 20)

A few months ago, I had never put anything out on the internet that'd be seen by more than a few dozen people. Then, during the days between Christmas and new years, I had some unexpected time freed up. Not sure what to do at first, I finally figured I'd tackle an idea I'd had for quite a few years - write down my fantasies and share them on Literotica.

Two months later, I'd amassed a hundred thousand views. I'd made friends with authors I've read for years. I had gotten a small but loyal base of followers, and I've had my doodles critiqued and reviewed by people who've been in the critiquing-and-reviewing business for a decade.

And it was nothing but positives!

It's been a dizzying time, slightly incomprehensible. But if this is how I react to minor, nay, miniscule fame, I can't imagine what went through the head of Maggie Rogers when she stepped into the studio at her school of music and arts, one afternoon in 2016. She was 19, brought her homework with her, and there was Pharrell Williams, sitting ready to critique-and-review the students works.

And it was nothing but positives!

Maggie was propelled into instant stardom. A little while before, she'd changed her signature from country and folk music, to EDM, just in time to finish this one song she brought with her. One viral hit as Pharrell was struck speechless by this song, and she had a record deal before she could even drink.

She went on tour. She came to Sweden. I was in the audience and had queued for hours to be at the front. She was just a kid on stage - she had no experience with performing live. But she absolutely killed it. The crowd went wild. We were dancing, singing, cheering, and Maggie got swept up in the moment.

"I've always wanted to do this!!" she exclaimed with this look of pure bliss on her face, before diving face first into the audience, right on top of me - her very first stage dive, she admitted, as she crawled back to her feet on stage.

I can't even imagine what an experience that must have been. What a rush!

Maggie Rogers - Alaska

“I’ve never heard anyone like you before,
and I’ve never heard anyone that sounds like that.”
-
Pharrell.

Sorry, that got a bit rambl'y.

Day 13: A song you’ve seen performed live

One wonderful thing about living where I do is that the small town I live near hosts a Fair that goes for around three weeks in September. Each night, they have some entertainment perform ranging from something festival like to something as wonderful as Carrie. I was gifted tickets to see her many years ago and she performed this song during the show.
I also want to dedicate this one to our OP (@morelikeasong)because I like the song and I hope she does also. 🥰🥰

Since I’m currently reading Gold Dust Woman, the biography of Stevie Nicks, it seems only appropriate to post her today. I saw her in 2017 and it was incredible. I’ve been a Stevie/Fleetwood Mac fan for as long as my memory serves. My mom used to sing me one of their songs as a lullaby.
Watching her spin around that stage (which I don’t think she does in this video) is nothing short of magical.

Stevie Nicks - Gold Dust Woman

Just a +1 for this since it’s her solo and not with Fleetwood Mac

Omg! What an experience! 😍

I'm running out of words to describe my jealousy for all these wonderful shows everyone has seen.
