I went to a colleague’s wedding. He was Irish and his to be wife was West Indian. And the girl’s family ordered the food for dinner, buffet style. The food was pungent and spicy. And there were no safe options. lol.
And then we all danced soca - all night long.
I have never seen so many alarmed Irish people dancing in one place before, since or after.

I took one too… but I wanted to compare my percentages with my parents… to see if it mathematically worked out. Shocking! It doesn’t.
But Ancestry.com was kind enough to let me know that I am somehow related to my mother, and my father!
There goes my “adopted” defence.

Yep, I love genealogy. I can trace one line to Tunisia in 200AD. However, my DNA only reflects late ancestors of northern Europe. I've done both ancestry & 23 and me. I'm extra super pasty.

That is amazing you found records going back that far. My mom has done genealogy since the 70’s, and was one of the few things I did with her. I hadn’t thought about it before, but I am also of Northern European background. So I guess I am particularly white too.

I want my dad to do a test so I can know more about his maternal side of the family. (He is an only child.) He probably never will.
I'm pretty dang white... Largest portion of my DNA is 34% French/German, 23% Ashkenazi Jewish, 14% English/Irish... the rest is Ukrainian, Polish and Slovakian.
It fascinates me in a way because I know my mom's side of the family (DNA wise) pretty well and this checks out. My dad's side not so much.
