I think the cash for OF images might be a bit of a one-way street.

I posted a link to my OF here and it was hilarious how many people told me that they clicked on it 🤣

OF, nude selfies... Oh dear, Em, what would sister Mary Francis from the convent school think? ☺️

Catholic School yes. Convent School not so much. And the answer to most things seemed to be an ever increasing number of Hail Marys.

All sorted out - if anyone cares - all it took was the promise of nude selfie.

For the avoidance of doubt this is a joke.

Emily

Just send her a nude selfie of the Emily of one of your alternative accounts! 🙃

And I’ve somehow been lumped into this golden category...
Not to cast shade, but I have seen more than one occasion when some furious, frustrated person was complaining that it took forever for their stories to get handled, only to receive a rejection, and you (probably with the best of intentions) hopped in the thread with something to the effect of: "Sorry, I've never had that issue! My stories generally get approved in under two days! Try being patient!"

Obviously, when a authors are pissed off, that sort of chipper response is not always well received.

Again, I'm not disparaging you, I'm just pointing out where the "golden category, illuminati conspiracy theories" might have had their origins 😜

And I responded like an adult to the rejection. And I didn’t complain, I did something. Which was my point in this thread. I guess I didn’t make it clearly enough.

And it’s resolved.

Thinking about this, there is one other possible reason that I seem to have above average success in connecting with Laurel.

It’s maybe that I don’t spend all my time complaining about a site that is free to use and allows me a platform I could never dream of building myself.

Sure she makes money out of it, good luck to her. That enables her to allow us narcissists to indulge our personality disorders and self-importance to the nth degree while paying zip for it.

Just sayin’

I've only ever interjected in one of these rejection threads once(now twice).

A writer was complaining about getting rejected for AI and posted a sample of his writing that tested as 99% AI. I offered suggestions and even rewrote a snippet of the sample which tested as 0% AI. His response was, "Well, that's my style and I'm not going to change it."
You can draw your own conclusion...

Point is, listen to the people that try to help you, don't argue with them or vilify them. You might just find your life gets easier and your stories published faster. just a thought.

Sure. But you've only had it happen once and it was almost immediately resolved. Many of the people are facing 2nd, 3rd or more rejections.

I understood your point.

I've been rejected twice, once for a formatting error and once because I was trying to publish short prose as a poem, and that was disallowed.

I've always responded politely.

My point was that sometimes your responses are viewed as glib, or even condescending, which isn't generally the best response to people dealing with frustration.

I'm not chastising you, btw. I'm explaining something you appeared to be confused/surprised by.

And you’re not throwing shade either, right?

Funny thing is when people say “I’m not…” it’s generally because they know they really are.

You don’t know how many rejections I have had and for what reasons. I’ve said elsewhere that I have had a lot for multiple reasons when I was starting out. Thing is, I learn.

And now I can say I’ve been womansplained on the internet - a first for everything.

Thank you Emily for posting this. I've had my share of rejections. Your comments have been very informative.

Alright, is it possible for me to offer constructive criticism without it coming across as an attack or throwing shade? Because neither of those were my intent.

I try to be polite and friendly with everyone in these forums, even when I disagree with them. Yourself included.

I often disagree with the way you seem to tease people when they are frustrated. How can I address this without "throwing shade?" Should I have brought the issue to you in private? Perhaps, but it's such a small issue, I hardly considered it so shameful that I couldn't say it openly.

Please tell me, how can I better express myself so that it isn't misinterpreted as an attack?
