I actually have the link now saved on my phone so I can listen to it in full when I have time to do so. Meantime, I have listened to enough speeches by Trump to know where he's headed with it. I did go back to the beginning and hear how he introduced the context of it. And that pretty much tells me a lot of where he's going because he's repeating the same message because that's what candidates do. They express a consistent message across the board to speak to those who want to hear from them and explain what they hold. You are right. I didn't listen to the whole thing yet. What I am saying is that until you pass judgment on it.. And I've listened to him at length in the past enough to know what the context is in which he says what he does... You need to listen to all of what he says about these subjects, not just little sound clips. But then again sound bite politics is exactly what you and your side are known for.

The increase in those issues is not coming from the anti-vaxxers... That is coming from people who are flooding across our borders who have never had these things dealt with in their countries. They are bringing things into this country that were dealt with already because they are not being vetted, they're just being let across the border. When you have millions upon millions of people coming into the country who have not had these diseases dealt with in their country and are carrying them with them, what do you expect to happen? Yeah, that's it. That's how pockets of anti-vaxxers have outbreaks of measles (as an example). Even if you're right that migrants that are here bring the measles with them, if people were vaccinating their children just as they were and their parents before them, they wouldn't have outbreaks. This is the dumbest argument for anti-vaxxing I've ever heard. The reason those diseases don't spread is because we don't have people to carry them here. Well, we didn't.

It's about parental rights. Period. I don't need to air my personal opinion on vaccines. And I don't care what yours are. But neither you nor teachers nor governments have any right to impose your position on those who do not agree with you, and force them to comply or not receive schooling in the very schools their tax dollars are funding. So I fully agree with Trump on this. The teachers, schools, and the government needs to stay the fuck out of the life of the individual and the family. Kids don't belong to the government or the school or society in general. They belong to the parents, and the parents, not society, should have final say as to what or what does not go into their child's body. No one cares more about their children than their parents. Stay out of their lives.

I never read that book, since I figured the topic that Clinton milked for an entire book was covered well enough in a few paragraphs by Kurt Vonnegut: kids need networks of extended family, neighbors, etc., because parents can't do it all themselves. And many kids need backup parents when their biological parents are batshit, drunk, narcissistic, dead, etc.

That you would have a view of parents that assumes that they might be batshit drunk or narcissistic... And then again you would be the one that determines who's crazy or who is narcissistic based on your values.. That's narcissistic on its own. That you would have that view that that assumption is there says more about you and how you view parents and their role than it does anything else. Again, the children belong to the parents. Parents naturally create a community around them and their children as they want their children to be influenced. They create networks that help reinforce what they consider to be positive values and morals. And those parents I reiterate love and care about their kids more than you or society or teachers or government ever will. They know the children better than you or society or teachers or government ever will. You do not know better than the parents. Society does not know better than the parents. Teachers do not know better than the parents. And government definitely does not know better than the parents. The parents rights trump any other influence on the children.
