Trump field-tested an expansion of his anti-vaxx pandering this weekend in his stump speechifying.

He proposes removing all federal funding to public school systems who require ANY form of vaccination as a condition of attendance.
This includes MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella), Chickenpox and polio vaccines.
One gets the impression this man has a death wish for American children.
President Putin is pleased.

Side note: Public schools are generally funded 98% from state/local taxes. The federal government ponies up 2%, the bulk of which is spent on special needs children.

Anti-vax lunatics have already caused the return of polio.

Trump’s nuttier-than-squirrel-poop base will eat this up. Free-dumb!

And I should believe the twitter post of whoever this Barbara Comstock person is because why?

Want to make this claim about Trump? I want a direct, uncut, unedited source of what he's 'saying'.

Thanks for the source.

I'd argue that 45 won't try or do anything of the sort and instead this is meant to appeal to the Candace Owen fans in the crowd.

The problem is that he is saying it at all. And then there are many who will eat it up.

It's not a sane or rational thing to say. Inviting polio, measles, mumps, rubella etc back into society is fucking insane.

You should be arguing that no rational sane person would ever propose these things. You saying "well he won't do it" sounds... pardon, retarded. This is the type of language that normalized this ridiculous discourse - and him.

Definitely it is an issue that he'll do anything if it gets him attention.

Up to and including causing multiple epidemics across the American population.

The fact that he is so cavalierly saying something so insane is not merely problematic.

The real problem with Trump is he says outrageous things all the time. Before his steep mental decline of the last handful of years he did it because of media attention. Any publicity was good publicity. But this isn't just outrageous. It's truly threatening.

It's stuff like this that shows just how far he's declined. He doesn't have the judgement to know where to draw the line. He's on some kind of weird demented auto-pilot. He's a broken wind-up toy.

The traditional childhood vaccinations have been decades old proven safe and effective in preventing those diseases in children. I had Mumps, Measles, and Rubella as a child as did many of my friends. Polio, while not rampant when I was a kid, was still out there and causing mayhem in people's lives. I remember getting the polio vaccine as an oral medicine. These need to stay out there and continue to be administered to school age children.

This anti-vaxx madness is a result of the covid vaccine. People have a serious mistrust and this has allowed the anti-vaxxers to convince people that all vaccines are bad. We don't need to see polio come back with a vengeance because of this stupidity.

I strongly suspect Trump was only referring to the Covid shots, and in that context is very reasonable.

That's why the source here for claiming what he said is some random twitter post telling others what he said, and not a link to a source of the man speaking for himself.

So, why aren't you concerned that you have to guess his meaning on something like this? Shouldn't he have been crystal clear?

I believe he is CLEARLY stating that the information is not a direct quote but a reporting of the quote by someone else. If he said it I'm sure there is video of him saying it. So show the video and remove all the questions.

I will not give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate.

Sloppy and hyperbolic.

You need an "I believe" sign. Or at least to let your fingers do the walking. Perhaps you should look into it.

It's your hour.

Now I must point to the irony of people getting offended at a compulsive serial liar potentially being quoted inaccurately.

Come on man. Don’t let an unsubstantiated claim posted on X by an avowed Trump hater spoil this thread!

The man who was President during COVID didn't specify it was only for COVID. Makes sense. [/sarcasm]

He either has dementia, or he meant all vaccines. Choose a button, Deplorables. 😘

I find it hilarious that you guys have to guess what he meant. That's your expectation of a president. That you have to guess what he means.

:nana:
I want to hear what he actually said, in context, not guess based upon what other people claim he said.

Glad you posted the video source. Now provide us with at what point in the speech he makes the claimed statements; others are not obligated to sift through evidence to justify your claims.

You should know where in the speech he makes these statements, unless you're going to admit the only evidence you've been convinced by is what someone else told you he said.

By all means the video is linked above. It's your hour.

The reality is though that Trump makes so many insane statements the default defense position for Trump is always "have to hear what he said".

Groovy, go to it. If you're not willing to put in the work to get to the bottom of your inquiry don't expect me to do anything but wonder how anyone keeps up with Trump's nonsense and why you guys work so hard - at least verbally - to defend him.

Go look at the video. It will be educational for you to see exactly how much the individual you keep defending has declined.

So you're not going to provide evidence for the claim of what Trump said. Gotcha.

Deplorables aren't doing this any longer. They don't want to watch his decline.

But they don't need to at this point - they've firmly built up their fascist ideology of him; that's all they require. He'd be more useful to them now as a wax statue.
