I cannot even fathom that⦠I wasnāt a fan, but really didnāt have an opinion until someone told me that Princeās solo on āWhile My Guitar Gently Weepsā was awesome⦠so I watched the video⦠and my opinion of Prince dropped dramatically. Sorry, I thought it was massively lame. Every guitar cliche possible, no originality whatsoever. There is a story, maybe mythical, that Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be the best ever guitar player. Slowhand's answer...I don't know, ask Prince.
Out of curiosity, do you play guitar?I cannot even fathom that⦠I wasnāt a fan, but really didnāt have an opinion until someone told me that Princeās solo on āWhile My Guitar Gently Weepsā was awesome⦠so I watched the video⦠and my opinion of Prince dropped dramatically. I went from no opinion to hating the guy almost instantly.
Maybe⦠but since I truly think he wasnāt that good, and I have integrity, I will leave Lit before I would lie and say I think Prince was awesome. What I heard was mediocre. Not great, but not horrible, average at best.@BrendaD , I think you stepped in it on that comment about Prince. You may need to find a way to do penance.
Well, only since 1984. And I played professionally in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area for 9 years.Out of curiosity, do you play guitar?
In that case, while I disagree with your assessment, so long as you don't start bashing. Eric Clapton too, I can cope.Well, only since 1984. And I played professionally in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area for 9 years.
Knock my boy Clapton, we's gon haffta fite!In that case, while I disagree with your assessment, so long as you don't start bashing. Eric Clapton too, I can cope.![]()
I much prefer Foo Fighters over Nirvana. As far as Foo Fighters, Iām not really into anything theyāve done in the last ten years or so, but I love the earlier material. Iāve always thought āAuroraā was one of the more underrated songs from the Fooās catalog. The song was absolutely magical live at an outdoor show on Milwaukeeās lakefront back in 2003.I am not wearing a āDave Grohl is f-ing awesomeā T shirt.
I have seen a bunch of interviews with him, and I absolutely love this man! He is so awesome, I cannot put it in words. But, I was never a big Nirvana fan⦠didnāt hate them, just didnāt love them either. Never listened to Foo Fighters, although I have long known what the name means, and love that they chose that as a band name.
So I used youTube to bring up 5 or 6 of the top Foo Fighters songs⦠and I didnāt care for any of them. Not even, remotely. Just not my style I guess. But, I still love Dave Grohl, the man. And I would gladly wear a Dave Grohl Is Awesome T shirt. But until I hear something that blows my mind, I wonāt wear a Foo Fighters t shirt⦠but I really want to⦠when I hear something that blows my nylons off, I will be a happy girl.
I am a big fan of Eric Clapton. It is likely not a big deal, but the album āReptileā is a favorite of mine. Along with Blind Faith, Derek and The Dominoes, and so many other albums he did. I have a video he did from around 1985 with Phil Collins on drums, Nathan East on bass and Greg Phillinganes on keys⦠that video is (to me) a master class in musicianship. In that case, while I disagree with your assessment, so long as you don't start bashing. Eric Clapton too, I can cope.![]()
OMG! Thank you!!! Truly, thank you will all my heart. I totally enjoyed that! They have a ton of material. My recommendation is to take a deep dive, because I think their best stuff was never released as singles. The album āIn Your Honorā is a double album with the second disc being all acoustic. You might like some of the deep cuts a lot more than the popular songs.OMG! Thank you!!! I hear you⦠but will not do it. I am in my late 50ās⦠I literally have 50 years of music I know and love. I have no interest in spending a half hour listening to rubbish hoping to find a gem. I am a nobody. There isnāt a single human on this planet that gives a damn what I think, about anything. No one cares if I like or hate a song, there is zero profit here if I spend 4 hours listening to music to find one that is really good. Nobody cares! And there is no reason they should. So, does it matter if I missed the one song I would love out of 500 that Taylor Swift has recorded? No.They have a ton of material.
