How worried were you during the great Literotica outage of 2024/02/26

I was convinced I had been banned. I’m glad to know it was out for other people too!
Me too. I’ve had some Lit issues over the course of my current project and have vented in author notes. I figured this was just an outage but the idea that I may have been banned crossed my mind.

It made me realize how much I'd miss it, if it would really be gone. Didn't worry too much though, has been working in IT for far too long to be concerned when a site goes down for a few hours.

If it would still be down now I'd start looking for news of raids or server shutdowns :) But then it came back, so we can still have our daily dose.

Lay awake in the night thinking of next steps for diagnosis. Try hubby's computer (had already tried different browsers). E-mail more members for whom I had addresses. If it seemed permanent, figure out a place to re-group. (Reddit??)

It wasn't until I got up this morning that I realized people could post at least in the Tech Support forum without logging in. Duh.

A bunch of us were speculating on Discord last night, the winner was @NoTalentHack who found this gem

I'll sit down with Laurel and Manu and mention a little something called "Maintenance Windows"
I've never been able to figure out how to use Discord. Can you give me a menu of steps to get to this found of Literotica information?

I'm still learning it too, but this is my personal discord server. There's a few readers who chat with me and we have a good time

https://discord.gg/UJWb7tzX3P

Go to that web site and Discord will run you through the mill on setting up an account & stuff like that. Once your set up, try that link again.

There's several servers that lit writers hang out on, we can probably get you into Mediocre Author's open server. There's another server that thinks they're the cool kids who detest the lower classes.

Having said that, I would be extremely sad if I had a new story posted today.
Oh…I did! First one since November and it falls on Literotigeddon! Mine was top listed new story and then Laurel goes and throws 8 new ones on top of it not long after the site comes back online. Not gonna lie, that was pretty fucked up…

I always forget that Lit uses their Xitter account.
At times like these I wish I could get back on Xitter. For as long as I can remember (a year???) I'm told I'm banned (or words to that effect). The thing is I almost NEVER used Twitter. If I found I posted more than 3 messages I'd be really surprised. Once in a while my daughter would send me a link.

So how the $^%@ would I get banned? Apparently there's no recourse...

That's a bummer
I gave up watching the new story list a while ago, I was spending more time worrying over it than I was spending writing. I'm weird like that

At least you got most of 24 hours at the top of the list. Those eight stories she buried yours with? They probably got a few hours in the middle of the night before today's releases covered them.

It's nice they put a warning notice but you couldn't get to anything. 404 all the way. 😣

There's been dozens of outages like that over the years. I just went and read some ordinary sex-free literature... ugh! I may have to bleach my brain!!!

Since the site was working for nonmembers, I thought for sure I'd been banned. I found out, using Edge (which I Fing hate), that not being logged in, I could read the stories and even read the forum. And I asked Google if Literotica was up or down, and all the sites said it was up, but that didn't make me feel any better. So, watching the threads for a bit and seeing no new post, I determined we'd all been banned. I'm glad they lifted it!

I immediately thought that I had missed a announcement about a site update.
Then as it got to 3 or 4 hours, I thought that some twat waffle, had hacked the site.

I have just started to make, I HOPE, in-roads to friendships on here.
Nobody has my cell phone, so nobody could text me and give any updates or anything.

What is "Discord"???

Discord is an instant messaging server. You can have live chats with groups of people or just two.
I'm chatting with a reader in France right now.
OK.
Is it an invite only thing, or create your own, or something???

Oh!! Is it only live messaging? No message board structure?

Having read this thread, I think there's a new definition for a Forum Newbie: someone who doesn't know 404 means the site is shut for maintenance.

I feel that you've all graduated, and can now consider yourself an AH long-timer (provided you remember it next time). The amount of panic and paranoia is amazing.

Maybe I see it more often, since I'm in different time zone, but it's always, "Come back later" for me. Shrug.
