I figured someone had snapped at having yet another story rejected, and launched a DDoS attack in retaliation.

A ddos attack had FFN shut down for almost an entire year.

I legitimately was afraid Comcast had taken over
Comcast is world famous for two things - laying off hundreds of employees on a whim, and rolling out "minor improvements" that caused major technical impact on customers.

I remember the evening I locked "Uncle Dave" the owner of the company, out of the system... what a night...

I'm not quite sure... I hit SUBMITT then not long later I heard Laurel say, "Another #@%$ing STORMWATCH story?"

That's when the lights went out

I finished with supper. Came into the office and clicked on the story side.. The dreaded 404 flashed across the screen so I checked the AH. Same thing there. I wasted some time and tried both again. No go, so I went to bed.

Been there, done that before.

To be fair, I didn't find it. Someone else did, and I just relayed it along. Still, it's nice to know that my guess at the cause was correct.
