There are mass demonstrations in Gaza against Hamas, it's all over Arab media
Without wishing to defend Hamas, but where is this on the news? Because as far as I can see - nope, nothing. I’ve checked Al Jazeera, I’ve checked Qatari news, I’ve even had one of the Israeli channels up.

This appears to be misinformation. Provide a source please.

The lack of logic and intellectualism amongst the pro Israel lobby here is increasingly laughable.
I've said many times in this thread.... The purpose of it is to provide information much more than analysis. Whenever possible, I prefer a source be provided.

In the end, it serves everyone to see where people originate their opinions from.

As a published historian, I agree with you. Always provide sources and citations as best practice.

Earlier, we reported that Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir called to restrict Palestinians’ freedom of movement following a shooting attack on a highway near the Maale Adumim settlement in the occupied West Bank.

He also said more weapons were being distributed to Israelis following the incident.

“An extremely large disaster was avoided here, thanks to the police and the armed citizens,” he told the press at the scene of the attack. “We’re distributing more and more guns. I think that today, everyone understands that guns save lives.”

So Israel is basically the 51st state of the United States, in everything. Or, the United States is the 2nd state of Israel.

The mirroring of the rhetoric and the spiral of violence is horrifying.

How do Americans, who have traditionally fought fascism, now openly support fascism when it has an Israeli flag over it?

This is something that absolutely baffles me. Even being in the UK, the people I know who are usually opposed to racism or discrimination and injustice are very publicly applauding Israel’s actions

Because Israel is a liberal democracy in a part of the world where autocracy is the norm.

Antisemitism has a powerful pull even with people who support liberal causes. Israel is judged by stricter standards because it’s the homeland of the Jews.

To clarify, I’m absolutely against anti semitism too. I’m not anti israel, just anti their actions. I know there are a great number of Israeli citizens who condemn what their government is doing. I don’t see this all being an issue stemming from Judaism. More so another issue driven by the wrong political powers being in charge. It just absolutely breaks my heart what is happening there, along with many other places around the world.

This is rubbish. Again. Not borne out by the facts.

A number of liberal democracies came to the ICJ over the course of this week to condemn Israel, the state’s, actions. It had nothing to do with being antisemitic. It was everything to do with Israel’s actions as a state.

People cry “antisemitism” where Israel is concerned to prevent legitimate criticism of a country carrying out war crimes.

Given the war crimes are against a Semitic population, the irony is not lost on me.

This is the correct place to be in, IMO.

However, it is clear the issues stem from Zionism, not Judaism. Some might ask what the difference is - my argument would be that if you follow the British courts and the case of Dr David Miller, you will have your answer.

Zionism is the belief that Jews should have a homeland.

Calling Israel “fascist” is definitely antisemitic.

Please don’t quibble over who’s “Semitic”. The term “antisemitism” has meant Jew-hatred since the 19th Century. It was coined to make hating Jews sound like reasonable race “science”.

i think that definition is a tad outdated.
A more contemporary definition, in my humble opinion, would be
'Zionism is more "Lebensraum fur den Vaterland", plus eradication of the Untermensch'
It’s not antisemitic to criticize Israel, but equating Israel to the Nazis definitely is.

You have a far right government which is calling for the eradication of an indigenous population and involving an apartheid state.

It’s handing out weaponry like candy.

It’s controlling the media.

It focuses on armament and settlement.

It has a leader who has invoked emergency powers to hold onto power and to enact a war.

It’s a fascist state.

To ignore this is to be ignorant of history.

To claim it is antisemitism to point out the obvious is to be utterly repugnant and irrational.
