Sex & Shenanigans

So… is is like all north? And as you drive and head north, and make a u turn, you are now headed.. north?

Cool! 👍
That probably seems very witty from somebody not from the north. I’ve lived on two continents and always been from the north. There’s only two ways the wrong way and the north

On the topic of Chick Fil A from about 10 pages ago…
I believe they stopped many of their donations to the anti lgbt organizations several years back.
While I don’t completely lean into the “no ethical consumption under capitalism” mindset, there is significant truth to it. I generally assume that when I am giving my money to any large company/corporation, it’s not being used for the greater good.
I don’t think eating chick fil a is any worse for the gay community than eating at Taco Bell, which I’m not going to stop doing either.
Plus, the chick fil a near my old house was a really excellent employer for people with disabilities, and everyone who worked there was always happy and kind.

That part about giving my money to any large company or corporation is exactly how I feel.

Not exactly. CFA made a big thing about how they were stopping their funding of certain organizations, then quietly resumed donating to some of them about a year and a half later. And it’s not just the Republican party and Republican candidates, they’ve funded groups that lobby for stripping LGBTQ+ rights, particularly family-related like marriage and adoption. Donating to Republicans is one thing, but CFA is on a whole ‘nother level. Honestly, fuck them entirely.

Oh AND one of the organizations they resumed donations to is the Salvation Army. Many people associate SA with a Santa ringing a bell collecting donations before Christmas, or the Angel Tree at the mall that allows shoppers to pick out gifts for underprivileged children or their homeless shelters. Sounds great, right? What many people don’t know is that their shelters often turn away unhoused LGBTQ+ and/or non-Christians, and those they don’t turn away are compelled to attend their religious services. For people in desperate circumstances, it’s basically coerced conversion.

Do you have any sources for this? Because I thought I remembered that coming out and going viral and then being fact checked as incorrect.
And I don’t disagree that those donations are bad. But do we know the donation histories of the other corporations we support with small purchases? I don’t.

To be clear, I’m not going to knock anyone for boycotting a company on principle. It’s just not the most meaningful to me personally.

It’s well documented and not at all difficult to find. It’s 5:52am here though and I was trying to wind down to sleep.

Unpopular and perhaps surprising opinion: CFA isn’t very good. There are many other chains that make such better chicken, AND you can get it on Sunday.

Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr, Popeye’s, Zaxby’s, Raising Cain’s, Bojangles.

Not to mention the flood of new hot chicken Sammy places.

I’m actually having a hard time finding anything that says they are still donating there. I found this that discusses some of the controversy regarding their Salvation Army donations, and donations from that year are the last I can find info about, with just a couple quick google searches.

Don’t research for me. Get some sleep, definitely.
Maybe someone else will jump in if there’s something I’m missing.

My kitchen is pretty damn good.
