Day 8: A song that mentions alcohol

"Why, Why, Why," The Airborne Toxic Event.

More TATE. Part is because they vibe really well with my writing mood of late. Part because I just finished a divorce, long coming and expected, but still a crash, even considering we were more or less roommates that fought a lot for the last five years or so. And part because I am contemplating getting a lyric from this as a tattoo ("They say follow your heart. What if your heart never knew where to go? Or why?"). But mostly because how real this verse is:

"And it's foolish to think
You can bury it all in some endless drive to drink
Every person you meet can tell you're a ship
Taking water in a storm and you're starting to sink"

So here is to this song, and refusing to drink alone.

I'm going for a deep cut today. If you've watched season one of Peacemaker on HBO (with that incredible 80s hard rock soundtrack) you've heard of Hanoi Rocks. When I was young and getting into music I'd read about these guys and hunted around for their music on cassette. Even the re-releases were hard to find in rural New England where I lived. This is a song I've always loved by them.
