What is the commonly used trope that irks you the most?

I don't think anyone here is having a go at your reality, or anyone's reality.

The issue is tropes: taking overused shortcuts because they're easy, without adding the groundwork that makes them real.

Is it just that they’re used as shortcuts? I think some just don’t care for those types of stories because they see them as over used.

Your link is about inter-racial marriage. My reply was about incest.

@Kelliezgirl
"Same reason the incest stuff is now so popular. At one point it was taboo, which adds a kink for some people. Now that the percentage of people who consider it taboo is vanishingly small we've moved onto other taboos for our kinks."

You misinterpreted my statement, I should have been more clear.
Interracial was taboo, now it isn't, so other taboos are taking it's place, like incest. Pornhub is full of incest stuff these days. It's the hot new taboo.

I know I'm a terrible person, but this thread has me cooking up story ideas. So many bears to poke, so little time.
Ten pages in one day!?!? Wtf! I'm giving up for now on page 4. But I think this thread is not for me. I love most of these tropes. Lesbians turning? Awesome! Yes it's unrealistic. It wouldn't be an erotic fantasy if it was realistic. And it's not for the lesbians; it's for the guys who lust after lesbians they can't have - until now, in the fantasy. At least my preferred version is not "lesbians can't resist guy's huge cock," it's "guy lusts after something he thinks he can never have, and it turns out he was wrong about that last part." The joke story idea about lesbians looking at the step brother's or roommate's cock is right up my alley. Silly and fun.

I'm not into IR stuff that goes hard on racism and slurs, but I am working on an IR story about a couple where the man has low sperm count, going to an "unlicensed" sperm bank that turns out to be a black guy who will have sex with the woman. Husband, after coming around to the method of delivery, is still like, but, but, he's black. Wife and insemination expert are both like what? That's fucked up man, you come to another man for help but don't want it from a black man? Husband says no, no, I'm not racist, it's just that everyone will know it's not my baby.... Wife says honey, everyone already knows we're going to a sperm bank. Yeah, but now, like, *everyone* will know... Like checkers at the supermarket and people walking down the street... Look honey, just sit over there and think about how you can improve yourself and do more to internalize anti-racist attitudes, while we make this baby...

Ah yes, the ‘magic dick’ trope.

I challenge people to find someone whose self identity wasn’t permanently affected (for better or worse) the first time they got stuck with a penis.

Every dick enthusiast or hater I’ve known had a first experience that bent their perspective one way or another.

If nothing else, dicks are transformative.

While many people aren’t into organic penile penetration, I doubt many who’ve only experienced an artificial phallus (whatever the gender of the recipient) haven’t wondered how nice a real one could feel if it was attached to the right person.

TERF me out on a rail if you need to -
I’ve been a ‘girl with a dick’ for enough women to know it’s a real fantasy for some who otherwise aren’t into men.

I hadn't thought of one, but I found one yesterday; dick measurements. Not the length, but the girth. It seems people don't understand that round things are measured by circumference and not whatever the fuck they think they're doing. So the "...two inches thick," I'm always seeing, paints the picture of a literal pencil fat hi-lighter dick. Your mans not wrecking pussy and reenacting those Loreal commercials with a ten inch long Crayola marker.

I will admit I'm guilty of this too. Never been with a real life squirter. But I wouldn't mind being with one and cleaning up afterwards. I'm also on the record as a man who has varying levels of orgasmic ejaculation. Sometimes I've gushed, usually I just spurt a small amount. My lovers have never made lasting complaints.
I have and it's glorious.

I don’t think that’s entirely true. And I don’t just mean bi girls like me. Some women I know have found their sexuality after years of trying to be “normal” (quotes intentional). Some are now exclusively lesbian, but that doesn’t mean they are necessarily disgusted by their pasts. Or that they don’t have some residual feelings for men on occcasion.

As ever generalizations fall flat. I was pretty much a girl girl (IRL at least) before I hooked up with my bf. But I’ve learned that it’s as much the person as their genitalia that matters. Then I accept this could just be me.

Thems what we call Lone Stars. No dick, no way, no how.

Of course that is one experience. But it’s a spectrum. From people who are gender agnostic to people who are gender exclusive. But the idea that all lesbians are disgusted at the thought of male sex is just not true. I know counterexamples myself.

Bad boys tend to be bad news.

Had a colleague years ago who was going though a divorce. She said she was young and attracted to a 'bad boy.' Ten years later he split but not before emptying their joint bank account.

Even bad boy hook ups tend to crash and burn. You can have equally hot sex with nice people. More hot in my experience. Who wants to fuck an asshole (wait… I meant… well you know 😬)?

The idea that characters have to be perfect in terms of ethics or any other way. The characters in my stories are messed up insane people and their relationships work because they compliment each other’s shades of madness. Heh.

Also the idea that you should not have fantasies. Yes, famous celebrities are unlikely to be horny nymphs into your character or each other in real life. But this is Erotic Fantasia- a little pornographic satire and muse impersonation is not necessarily a bad thing even if it’s not to everyone’s tastes. IRL, I bet there are things in your stories that might not be a good idea either. If we can edit out STDs, unwanted pregnancy, and other dangers of irresponsible sex that doesn’t suit the story, editing in a lustful celebrity or two isn’t a big deal, right?

You're teetering on the edge again here... a strongly worded response or two might be coming your way.
It’s fine if it is. The fact is I have never actually stalked a celebrity and I never will. People might not believe it, but I respect the word “no.” With a sigh and an “oh well”, but I still respect it. Freedom of choice is important in this world.
