Oh to clarify I was agreeing with the malleable part and used a bad exampleThank you for the kind words!
And you're completely right about the lyrical misinterpretations... with 'Born in the USA' being a brilliant example, for sure.
(One of my all-time favourite albums when I was a kid, by the way. I got the cassette, and it was in permanent rotation.)
I guess my point 'was' how malleable and open to interpretation lyrics are, which can be wonderful... but it's certainly galling when it flies in direct opposition to what the artist in question usually stands for. Right-wing interpretations of Springsteen are particularly galling and ludicrous... lol.
Thanks for the great post.
This was the very first song I thought of! Glad you picked it so I had to think of my second thoughOne of my favorites.
Practically invented garage/punk rock. The Sonics - Have Love Will Travel.

I loved this song so much as a kid. Just put it on and had a dance party with my kids. My little baby was doing all her signature dance moves- itโs the cutest.
Fuck yes.The 60's

Awesome stuff came out of the 60s and I think a lack of genre labels had a lot to do with it.I love punk rock, but the 60s were the best decade for music imo. Great choices everyone!!!

Whelp, know what Iโm singing all day now.
I would have lost money betting that this was a Beach Boys song.
