Day 16: A song for a rainy day

Riders on the Storm has been listed a few places on here, so I'll go with second place. I don't know if it's the key, color, or words of this song, or because it was released the shortly after I moved to Portland. However, this song just feels like rain to me

Nirvana hit my freshmen year of college. And my natural contrariness kicked in pretty early. But yeahโ€ฆthis is great.

I grew up in and around Stumptown, and I was of an age to see Nirvana a lot before they hit big. The early 'nineties was a great time to be of drinking age.

I havenโ€™t heard that name in yearsโ€ฆ I have fond memories of the Stumptown I grew up in, but it was turning into something very unfamiliar to me back in the 90โ€™s, so I left. From what I see on line, I donโ€™t want to go back. I would rather remember what a great place it was. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

It's changed A LOT in the decade and a half I've known it.
I was there recently and it's lost its soul ๐Ÿ˜”

I wouldn't necessarily say that I dream of Orgonon exactly... but when I was a painfully idealistic young man I did used to frequently dream about being "a threat to the men in power"... and on those days when I'm feeling a bit defeated, the incredible power of Ms. Bush can still bring back that hopeful vibe like few other artists. Lovely.
(Sincere apologies if this has already been posted. I'm afraid that I've fallen a few days behind.)

I am a coffee lover, so Stumptown stays in my mind (though I always referred to it as The Puddlestomp).

She has changed a lot, especially in the last decade. I used to be able to go anywhere and be enchanted. Now it is less so, especially downtown. That said, there are still places that hold my heart (I no longer live in the city -- I fled to Washington for tax purposes, heh).

Oh, and Powell's. Yes, they have an online site, but there is no substitute for walking into Powell's City of Books. The smell alone is worth putting up with a lot.
