Policy on AI images.

I don't have a problem with this policy. And if I did, I would STFU because it's not my board and not my place to make the rules. But.....

I am curious about the reason for this policy. What problems are anticipated with AI image threads? Seriously, I'm just curious, and would like to be educated. Thanks!
Why should there be any image threads on the Author's Hangout? There is a forum specifically for visual artists.

they are talking about the images shared by us on AH, as some have used AI to create them. It's now a no-no to share those images here.

Agreed.

The case for the defense, flimsy as it is, might be that it’s a little intoxicating being able to visualize characters that you have created and are fond of.

But… no sense filling AH with it, so I agree restraint is appropriate [insert joke here].

From what they said, I think a post that was, like, "This is how I envision the MC in my latest story. How well do you think I described them in my prose" would be acceptable. Multiple "Hey, here's a bunch of AI hot chicks" posts would not.

Yeah - and I think that’s totally fair.

You are, of course, right, but that is the official policy of AI on Lit. I was thinking maybe they were expanding it to include here.
That's not what AH Mod said. They said no threads specifically of AI images. Occasional use of AI images within discussions is allowed.

A map's not really a good example. There have been programs for eons that generate fractal terrain. That part is technically machine created, but I can't recall ever seeing one where someone hasn't put place names on it that hadn't come from their own imagination. The important part is the relationships between those places, not the underlying terrain.

sorry it was more of a reference made in a different thread but yes I totally agree with what you ate saying :)

My mind is going to weird places. I'm imagining a fantasy world where you can hire guides who have maps tattooed all over their bodies.

Tat-nav.

It wasn't that long ago that they were recommending AI art for series covers. I wonder what conversations are happening in private between site admins and the owner.
