You sound like my mum. I grew up in a matter of fact home where my friends would come for information and advice. I'm the same way with my kids and am noticing I'm already starting to get questions from early elementary school aged peers about things I didn't realize I'd be talking about yet.

Right?!?! It's amazing the questions kids have that they're uncomfortable ask, and/or know their parents are too uncomfortable to answer. I mean, keep things age appropriate, but answer the damn question.

*now that I'm comfortably situated on my soap box, I would also like to add that positive body image starts with parents as well. I can remember resolving that i would not be negative about my body in front of my kids. 4 days after baby #3 came into the world, my daughter saw me step into the shower. My oldest, age 4 then, asked with a quizzical look, why my tummy was "flopsy". Now, I wanted to melt & cry (where my moms at, you ladies get it!) Instead I got a big smile on my face, put my hands on the soft half watermelon on my lower abdomen, and said, because that's where you & brother and sister grew. Isn't it wonderful that my body can make a whole person! Someday it will go back to being just as it was, but for now my body misses the baby it carried.

I've got three kids who will tell you that sometimes they get frustrated if a certain fashion doesn't look good on them, but they don't tear themselves apart like a lot of their peers do.

It was my cryptonite, which is why I needed an ablation (not a hysterectomy my doc first recommended, that can leave a woman with week bones, no sex drive & aorgasmia.) Another thing that girls should know about!!!
