Some of them can, but it can take a lot of modification and I think it’s important to be aware that you/they might not like the reality at all.

Sometimes it’s about practical things, like car trunks being very uncomfortable places and middle age being defined as getting a kink in the neck and resulting migraines because the pillow slipped the wrong way at night.

Other times it is about the idea being much hotter than the reality.
For example, I would never believe someone who said they wanted to be punched in the face unless they actually had been punched for real at some point, because it does hurt, can cause a lot of problems and personally I find it infuriating-like really, really infuriating.

There are a lot of fairy tales and myths and traditions that are rather dark and adult in their original form and can be spun very adult in fantasy or fiction.
It’s not the only reason I love fairy tales and stories like that, but it definitely plays a part.
