I really like Johnson as a director / writer. But I think SW would have been better served by Wes Anderson as director of TLJ.

Now there is a thought. Somewhere on the Internet is a Star Wars images composed by Wes Anderson. If not, I’m going to create it.

I can see the symmetrical center comps of X-wings already.

I think it's a case of someone being a good director but a bad fit for the project.
Some material doesn't play to an artist's strengths.
