Sex scenes are like salt. A little is fine, too much ruins the dish. I generally skim long involved sex scenes. I'd rather see great plot, a story told. Something that stirs my emotion and not just genitals.

I agree. The sex scenes get the least amount of work until it's time to do the work. It's there, what their doing, but the five senses stuff, emotional responces and detail is left for last.

I find I edit my sex scenes less than plot-related stuff. It’s normally typos and “d’oh! you just had the FMC take her panties off twice.” They seldom get the structural overhauls that plot stuff does.

That works often for many things, but first person gives a certain insight into the MC's real feelings and how he perceives those other's emotional states. I find both first and third person work well.

I just looked over one of your stories. You also use dialog well to show those emotional states. Too many of the omniscient narrators go off on tangents trying to tell the story from the sidelines.

Thanks. I thought I was a terrible writer and just wrote for a creative outlet. I suffer from imposter syndrome and have a hard time reconciling the scores my works have gotten. I am truly bad at grammar and saved by a good editor

I have to keep changing up my sex scenes to keep them interesting. My first one was a straight femslash 69 after a nude modeling session. Then I had to do a threesome with a bisexual virgin, car sex, shower sex, masturbation, post-breakup seduction, fisting, sapphic triangle, swapping in a swing club, guy on girl, romance, so on and so forth. I just submitted a Fetish story featuring outdoor sex during a thunderstorm.

Not sure yet what I’ll do next. I have many ideas.

If she made a different decision than she did, we wouldn't have her well written stories to read.

I can't imagine she'd want all her efforts to better express herself to cause another author to give up their own necessary expression journey.

Real storytellers aren't wired that way.

Be a real storyteller. Definitely to others on their journey. Especially to yourself.
