Vacate Watch - Speaker Mike Johnson (R - LA)

First, not discussing Trump. I understand you believe the next massive asteroid to collide with Earth will be Trump’s fault.

The vile attacks against Johnson from the left is typical. The discussion was in reference to Johnson trying to overturn the 2020 elections. I pointed out what Johnson did was legal. Dems are just as guilty but we all know democrats lack self awareness.
Sorry, I saw your comment just hanging out in space without a connecting point between the Speaker and Jefferies. It seemed logical to assert it was a Trumpism, again. You created a list - no connection was found there.

Now that you have connected the two, I'm still not accepting it makes any points on the Speaker's present role or position on the pressing matters before the House. More wasted time on funding that he damn well knows isn't going to get past the Senate or the President. More points are stacking up against the House's Republican leadership. Johnson's view is myopic; he doesn't want to be constructive in a grave time of peril. I predict America will wake up and set governance in Democrats' hands in 2024. Republicans will cry foul and bitterly whine about why legislation gets passed that actually 'makes America better' than where we are today, hopefully, before the asteroid comes. Joe Biden will complete his second term and retire knowing he fought the good fight even if he stumbles on stairs occasionally. [Did you see the latest on DT's senior and asinine moments? They are not good looks for a candidate.]

As to Donald being blamed for the next 'space asteroid attack by aliens,' well, he might get away with that one. Seeing how no one would be left or too concerned if they did survive to communicate about his possible connection with one another. Sure, could you put me on the list to blame him if you are comfortable with your prejudgement. Though, I don't think he has that kind of connection.☄️🛰️ Go, Space Force.

As noted, my short version take is that the Speakership remains a headshaking woeful sight.

Gotcha. I'm open for his belief system to be different than others. I'm tolerant of non-Christian and other views, too. In his new role, he will have to differentiate those beliefs from his personal ones and foster decisions based on the legal basis, not religious bases for governance. We will have to see how he handles that role. Similar to Presidents who, based upon religious beliefs, don't support abortion but ascribe to it as a person's legal right to decide that for themselves.

Johnson passed a 14.5 billion aid pkg for Israel. He brought up a stand alone bill now let Schumer choke on it.
Is this the rational solution of a powerful world force in crisis or just isolationists gloating? “Johnson passed a 14.5 billion aid pkg for Israel. He brought up a stand alone bill now let Schumer choke on it.”

President Biden submitted a budget request aimed at four funding elements, three involving crises: Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, and the US border wall. It faced immediate obstacles, primarily in the US House of Representatives.

Already forewarned it wouldn’t fly as separate pieces, the House Speaker chose to dissect the plan and separate the aid packages. He felt that Ukraine needed ‘further controls.’ To add salt to the wounds, he tagged the Israeli aid package with funding provisions to be taken from IRS funds allocated previously to help make sure billionaires paid their fair share of taxes, thereby increasing the Federal Revenue. Without that increase, financial experts expect that there will be a loss, not a gain, from the next budget.

The new Speaker did this knowing full well his plan was going to be dead on arrival in the Senate and at the President’s desk.

Yet Speaker Johnson told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an interview last week, “We can’t allow Vladimir Putin to prevail in Ukraine because I don’t believe it would stop there and it would probably encourage China to make a move on Taiwan. We’re not going to abandon them.”

Where is that plan of action? It isn’t on anyone’s table, not even a hint of aid or a so-called accountability of funds already delivered to Ukraine.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in response to the Republican proposal, “The House GOP bill is woefully inadequate and has the hard right’s fingerprints all over it. It makes aid for Israel, which has just faced the worst terrorist attack in its history, contingent on poison pills that reward rich tax cheats.” This was in reference to the proposal to use the IRS funds for Israeli aid.

Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Schumer’s counterpart, said, “At the risk of repeating myself, the threats facing America and our allies are serious, and they’re intertwined. If we ignore that fact, we do so at our own peril.” McConnell made this remark warning the GOP House Leader that American allies were in peril, needed support now, and that we needed to show resolve to the World as a sign of strength.

McConnell and Schumer, seasoned legislators who have dealt with numerous world crises, are aligned on this matter. The Senate is taking reasonable political action to shore up our allies and provide a show of force in the face of those who aim to destroy our influence and democratic support for other nations' rights to survive.

The House Speaker, Johnson, seemed to understand this because, on Hannity’s show, he noted Russia would not stop at Ukraine, and China would take our lack of support as a sign of weakness and take Taiwan. However, he cannot see the forest for the Republican trees blocking the forward progress in this effort, or is he just placating the MAGA campaign supporters to keep his job?

So, let them choke on it. That’s the answer?

Meanwhile, time perishes, and where are we with the alternative plan for the dead-on-arrival Israeli funds, the humanitarian aid for Garza, the support for Ukraine, and that endless border wall complaint that it remains unprotected? Come on, Republicans – get your act together. We are four weeks into this quagmire, and still no progress is in sight. Meanwhile, children and other victims of war are dying in two major wars.

The house bill is paid for with part of the stupid 80 billion IRS funding. Personally I want bills debated based on their individual merits. No more Hugh omnibus spending legislation loaded with pork barrel spending, we’re 33 trillion in debt. We have a congress that is completely out of control with spending. I agree with Vivek that budgets start at zero. Ukraine doesn’t get a dime till Biden pulls his head out of his ass and stops the invasion at our southern border. Build a wall, a comprehensive wall the length of the total southern border. Need to stop all illegals from crossing our border, remain in Mexico till asylum’s cases are adjudicated first. This is our country not illegal migrants.

Schumer and McConnell are seasoned spendthrifts, they both need to go. We’re spending our kids futures for votes.

The IRS currently can't do it's job, which means tax revenue is not collected, and you want to cut that funding. That money is an investment, which should generate more money than it cost. But you're against taxes, and I suspect you cheat on yours, and would prefer there is less enforcement of the tax codes, than more...
we’re 33 trillion in debt.
Lets not forget that Trump contributed 7.5 Trillion to that figure and you cheered him on.
. This is our country not illegal migrants.
Yes, America the home of the imigrants, but only the white kind...

Remember when President Biden, during his State of the Union address, got "republicans " to publicly declare that they wouldn’t touch Social Security or Medicare.

😎

Remember when some "republican" idiot screamed during that same State of the Union address that President Biden was a “LIAR!!!” for suggesting that SOME "republicans" did in fact want to touch Social Security and Medicare.

🙄
They've been doing that ever since Ronald Reagan said, "There you go again": sit back and let the other side tell the truth about their extremism, and then kick and scream about how they couldn't possibly be that bad. And hey, it works. If I were a Republican I'd keep right on doing it too.

You brag on Johnson's stand alone funding for Israel amounting to 14.5B, but then stand firm in not giving Ukraine a dime. What is the difference in funding between the two for you?

You know the right has that weird affinity for Israel, for a variety of reasons - probably chief among which is the idea that supporting a country strongly affiliated with a religion other than Christianity somehow proves they're not bigots. As for Ukraine, they love Trump's pal Vlad.

Remind me which President stood in front of the Berlin Wall and said infamously, "Mr.Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

Zero Based Budgeting? Vivek is a small businessman, who never prepared a US budget or would know how to. FWIW, it's both more expensive and less efficient, which is why the Reagon administration abandoned it. [A Republican, in case someone forgot.]

In 2020 Mr. Trump said he could build the wall in two years and make Mexico pay for every dime of it. That, we all know was rhetorical hyperbole. The southern border is 1,954 miles in length.

Ed Zarenski, a construction economics analyst with three decades of experience as a building projects cost estimator, said it would require eleven to twelve years and cost $22 billion to cover the whole project — a number he admits is likely “much too optimistic” because it excludes factors including inflation, workers’ accommodations, and land acquisition. It would take a team of 6,000 workers to build one billion dollars worth of wall in one year, excluding those worker residences and land costs. You have to create a mobile city to house all those workers, not to mention temporary roads, water, sewer, and only God knows what else those workers would need. So, add an extra $15 billion as a cushion and cross your fingers at $37 billion for a real border wall?

Here's a novel idea. Take that money allotment, hire GED level teachers, educate those illegals, give them trade skills, make the best of them citizens, and return the rest of them to their original home countries. Who knows what many educated, ambitious foreigners could do to improve their countries' problems once they landed back home and understood what to do? They could stay home and improve their lot - democratically speaking.

Nawh, it's just that the kill Muslims and Arabs with impunity the way the GOP wishes it could here.

Probably that too, although I seem to recall they had their cynical affinity for Israel before 9/11.

Hugh omnibus is a new representative from the wrongly gerrymandered anti-court mandated Alabama right?

Who got a Hugh (ha) portion of that debt… wait for it… from Hunter Biden!

Does it need to be handled? Yes. Do we have commitments that also need to be handled? Yes. Is the holding hostage approach the right one? Nope. Either either side the sole arbitrator on this? Nope.

So while the right wants to cut every social program imaginable, there is always room for discussion, but the discussion needs to be there. Not in the 12 stand alone bills that were attempted to be rushed prior to the end of September. That didn’t happen in an honest way. How did we get this new speaker? The last one compromised with the democrats. Can’t have compromise. Can’t own the libs that way.

I got an error code once again, had to cut and save;

We have such a bloated budget it’s time to dissect our present budget and scrutinize our needs and funded based on revenue. We can’t afford everything. Eliminate redundant programs, consolidate others and eliminate some totally. Spending should be revenue based not emotionally based.

Our porous border is a national security concern and by constitutional design national security is the number one priority of the POTUS. 5 cities in the US are now demanding 5 billion each to accommodate undocumented immigrants. That’s just the beginning.
In 2020 Mr. Trump said he could build the wall in two years and make Mexico pay for every dime of it. That, we all know was rhetorical hyperbole. The southern border is 1,954 miles in length.
I personally don’t care what Trump said about Mexico paying for a wall. Biden’s interpretation of immigration law is causing irreparable damage to our country. Our cities are being overwhelmed by illegals. Biden’s policies are allowing millions into our country without a plan on how to deal with them. Cities are expected to shoulder the cost which in many cases are already maxed out and on the cusp of insolvency. Biden has bastardized the definition of asylum.
A comprehensive border security plan does not just entail a fucking wall, but it should include a one hundred percent perimeter coverage of every inch of our property. 600,000 got aways is insane and if you’re OK with that then you’re insane. Every security analyst is very very concerned that terrorist cells have already set up camp in our country just waiting for the green light to commit atrocities in our country. What happened 10/7 in Israel can happen here.
Let’s just say we are forced to strike Iran’s oil infrastructure to send a message, if you don’t think they wouldn’t strike us back inside our own backyard you’re crazy. A van loaded with heavily armed terrorist willing to die for their cause could very easily take over a school and by the time any heavily armed law enforcement could respond everyone is dead! Israel never expected the carnage, the barbaric acts these terrorist are capable of doing. We are once again asleep at the switch.

Here's a novel idea. Take that money allotment, hire GED level teachers, educate those illegals, give them trade skills, make the best of them citizens, and return the rest of them to their original home countries. I believe in legal immigration, accepting migrants according to our needs coming through the front door not crossing our borders illegally and totally disrespecting our laws. We have limited resources and can’t take on all the world’s problems. By 2029 it is estimated that the interest on the debt will be 1.2 trillion dollars.

How about we train our own people trade skills. We have whole school districts that have substandard education, fix our fucking problems first. Now we have both homeless and undocumented migrants living on our streets.

"Here's a novel idea. Take that money allotment, hire GED level teachers, educate those illegals, give them trade skills..."

This line of thought is so out-dated when our legal workers are facing the pressures of automation in the workplace.

Enforce the border. Protect the jobs of our minorities or lose their votes to someone who will protect their jobs.

You know, those evil, fucking, baby-eating, America-hating, backwoods rustic Republicans.

Those people hunt wolves from helicopters. You can't trust that!

It's Hammer-Time! DO-do-do-do...

We need to fix how we spend and how we control tax revenue. 2029 the interest on the debt will be 1.2 trillion. Just think how we could spend that on needed project instead. We need to make some tough decisions. Both Democrats and republicans have been fucking us over and are doing so now. We need to clean house or eventually become insolvent. We need to tax and cut not tax and spend.

With efficient and effective tax policy we could eliminate half the IRS not bolster a sham organization with 80 billion more in tax revenue. We need to set better standards to protect us from politicians who protect our current tax system for their own benefit. Not all but many. Politicians hold office and retire multi millionaires. I believe people should have a right to vote for the person of choice but I also believe in term limits. Serving in Congress should be a privilege not a get rich scheme.

If you it to be against the law for a migrant to claim status anywhere along the border, then lobby to change the law so they can't.

The current President has already attempted to change enforcement so any asylum case outside of port entry was immediately rejected and they were deported and that enforcement process was struck down by the courts.

So if that's your position, then Congress needs to act. Period

I have been lobbying. I’m too old to run for office other wise I would. I served my country in another capacity for 32 years. Presently I live in a sea of globalists nut bags who voted for my state to be a sanctuary state. Now our illustrious ( first lesbian governor in our state history) Gov Healey has declared a state of emergency because of an overwhelming influx of undocumented migrants.

“Massachusetts governor declares emergency and urges help for migrants. Massachusetts governor Maura Healey declared a state of emergency on Tuesday as shelters housing migrants and refugees reached capacity, and called on the federal government to help.Aug 8, 2023”

Biden had a choice when he took office, but being an incompetent fool he undid policies that were working, why you ask? Because rather than think things through he eliminated those policies because they were Trump policies. What a way to run a railroad?

Biden literally made a person's ability to claim status outside of the port of entry moot....and he deported them .

The courts rejected that position.

What part of that don't you get?
