I can't help but think that now after the Hammas attacks despite the warnings and Isreal not doing anything ....... in essence getting caught with their pants down so to speak ........ How UNITED Isreal seems to be now.

Pro-Palestinian groups trying to piggyback off a heinous , despicable, murderous terrorist attack by the Hamas animals to promote their cause is NOT a good look.

That old saying of “too soon” applies to the nth degree in this situation.

Never would be too soon in regards to piggybacking off the heinous Hamas terror attack.

Israel is doing the right thing by finally eliminating Hamas’ ability to wage war from Gaza.

Giving 24 hrs notification to evacuate northern Gaza got things moving, with no ground assault yet after 48 hrs.. Anyone who doesn’t leave is fair game after a reasonable amount of time. Anyone trying to smuggle weapons out of northern Gaza is fair game immediately. Israel’s next move is to bury or collapse every weapons storage location and underground tunnel in northern Gaza and to occupy the entire area.

To save the patient (Palestinians) the surgeon (Israel) needs to cut out the cancer (Hamas).

I wouldn’t want to be the cancer (Hamas) right now.

The optimal and most peaceful solution is we simply strip all Muslims of US citizenship and deport them to their countries of origin. That would be the optimal solution. The suboptimal solution is that, as with Lebanon and as we are starting to see in the UK and France and Sweden (with it's 60 odd No-Go zones where the police no longer have any control), where there are large and fast-growing Muslim minorities, we descend into civil conflict. As with Lebanon, I don't see a good outcome for these countries. This is also the direction unrestrained immigration, and unstrained illegal immigration which has soared under Biden, is pushing us. We're fast approaching a breaking point, and when it happens things will break fast.

Israel and Palestine (and Lebanon) is just a foretaste of things to come. I take quite a pessimistic view here, largely because I don't believe in the innate goodness of man. I'm rather more Hobbesian in my outlook, and I see the disintegration of law and order, and societal breakdown in places like California and New York and Seattle and Portland, and the crime-ridden cities like Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans and others as the way things are going to go. Throw in a recidivist Muslim minority and its a recipe for disaster. We're losing all social cohesion as a country, and really, it's deliberately being inflicted on us with malice aforethought. What's happening now in Israel and Palestine is simply a little taste of what's coming. The Pax Americana has been finished off by Biden and the Democrats, we are no longer economically powerful enough to remain the world's policeman, the barbarians are at the gates, or inside the gates in many cases, and unless a miracle happens, Rome will fall and a new dark age will descend.

Of course, I may be wrong. Maybe Trump will be reelected and maybe the GOP will grow some balls and rollback all the destructive policies of the Biden and Obama era, but even then I don't see them going anywhere near far enough. The GOP Rino's stabbed Trump in the back every chance they got, and while they're being slowly reduced, they're still going to try and stop any major reforms, do what Trump can.

We would have to completely change our constitutional system to strip current US citizens of citizenship because of their religion. Our Constitution, as currently worded, forbids this. Aside from it being completely impossible, it would be the most evil thing our country has ever done. We would no longer be the same country. And it's ridiculous to suppose that we ever could or would do this.

The factual predicate is also completely false. The fact is that Muslim US citizens are not a threat to the US in any way. There's no evidence for that. We are not France or Germany and we don't have the issues they have with large populations of unassimilated Muslim immigrants. The vast majority of Muslim US citizens are just as good citizens as anyone else, and they're assimilated, and they live in the same neighborhoods as everyone else and they want for their kids what everybody else does. If you don't know this to be true, then get out more and meet some Muslims.

I have some concerns about societal breakdown too, but that has nothing to do with Muslims. It has to do with public policies and laws that create bad results, like changes in the law that incentivize people to engage in petty theft with impunity because they know they won't be arrested. Those laws can, and should, be changed. But that has nothing to do with what we're discussing in this thread. It's not Muslims who are stealing from the shelves of Target, and it's not Muslims who are pushing for these dumb laws.

I'm somewhat Hobbesian, too, in my view of human nature, but you're not Hobbesian, you're apocalyptic, and that's something completely different. One can be somewhat pessimistic about human nature and its possibilities while being optimistic about the future, which broadly describes my attitude. The world is in almost every way a better place than it was 40 years ago. It's going to be a better place 40 years from now than it is today. That's the smart bet. And if you think of Trump as your knight on a white horse, you've picked the wrong knight. You're an intelligent person. Trump is an ignorant, narcissistic con man. Dumb as rocks. He's been that way his whole life. His one concern, at all times, as attested by many who have worked for him, is "What's in it for me?" The societal breakdown you talk about, like riots in Portland and Seattle, happened on his watch, and he didn't do anything about it, and he wouldn't have any idea what to do about it if he were elected again. Sure, he'll tell the crowd, "Let's just shoot them," but he can't actually do that, and he can't order other people to do that, and it's not going to happen, and it's childish fantasy to think that's the solution.

Your thinking encapsulates a common problem today, which is that many people of all political stripes have lost confidence in the system, and have consequently become radicalized. Your thinking is no different in kind from that of the fanatical radical Muslim who wants to kill nonbelievers, or the fanatical climate pessimist who wants to go full socialist because it's the only way (so they say) to prevent the otherwise inevitable end of the planet. Your way seems to be that one must fight craziness with craziness. My way is "Let's stop being crazy."

I don't think most people believe that. I don't think the Israeli leadership believes that.

But you don't win a war through surgical strikes at the bad people at the top. The only way to beat the Nazis in WW2 was to bomb and kill a lot of Germans. That's war. The Gaza people elected Hamas way back when, and then Hamas kicked out the opposition. You pay the price for the evil people you've picked to lead you. There's no way to take out Hamas without hurting civilians, especially because they launch their rockets from densely populated civilian areas. This is what war is. Israel did not start this war, but it has a right to win it to survive.

The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach, but after what happened on October 7, Israel has no choice but to go after Hamas mercilessly.
