The FBI likely has a case file on Oliver Anthony already, whistleblower says
by Jon Miltimore

Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” is the most talked about song in America. Released just this month, the blue-collar tune is already approaching 40 million views on YouTube and landed on top of Billboard’s Hot 100 on Tuesday, making Anthony the first musician ever to hit No. 1 with no previous chart history. It was even the subject of the first question at the Republican presidential primary debate on Wednesday.

Because of the song’s subject matter, I don’t think it’s unfair to describe Anthony’s song as politically charged, as some have. And though there’s no doubt that the song has resonated with people of all backgrounds, it’s hardly surprising that many journalists have attacked the song for this very reason.

Edward Snowden, the famous whistleblower who blew the lid on the National Security Agency’s unlawful surveillance program, recently hinted that there’s a good chance the FBI has already opened a file on Anthony.

“After hitting topping the iTunes list and tweeting like this, the FBI will be making space for him another kind of list, too,” Snowden tweeted. “Think I’m kidding? The FBI had a file on John Denver for attending *one* anti-war protest.”

You know this song has got to have pissed off many of Biden's communists to the point of considering some kind of suppression effort. After all truth and free speech is their enemy.

Songs about politics and current society views are nothing knew

People's over reacting and getting butthurt over them are.

The ones who are pissed off over Anthony and the song right now are the right wing MAGA morons cancelling him because he said he was all for diversity.

Sorry to ruin your boner there, buddy. Best you go pick up the latest issue of Scat Fetish Monthly and cheer yourself back up with their centerfold for September! :ROFLMAO:

Kind of funny how after he "set the record straight" wrongway's out banging the " cancel him drum".......

Can there be any doubt? I fear for the young mans life and freedom.

The song isn't political. It's a working class lament that harkens back to the depression era. And even though there are conservatives claiming the song what is little noted is that many liberals are as well. It is catching on with blacks, whites, asians, male, and female. It is also going international. Is it any wonder that the 'elites' see the song as a mortal threat to their power?

Both parties, republican and democrat, have abandoned the working class. Both parties are frog marching the citizenry towards the edge of a cliff and the only difference betwen the two is speed and direction. One party, or the other, or maybe even a third party, will latch on to the spirit of the song and bring about some much needed change (until thy're in power too long and also become corrupt).

Oliver Anthony is just another dipshit who performed a broad brush anti-government song without acknowledging the threat “republicans” pose to freedom and democracy in America and the world, and without acknowledging that Democrats are striving to preserve freedom and democracy in America and the world.

Just another dipshit that wants to sit in the fence and indiscriminately throw stones while profiting off of the resulting publicity generated by those poorly aimed stones.

Fuck Oliver Anthony.

*nods*

Okay this bullshit MUST stop. When one party is fighting for higher minimum wage, medicare for all affordable if not free childcare and supporting unions NO both sides have abandoned the middle class. Its that We need at minimum 63 in the Senate a Manchin and Sinema duo can't shut shit down and 41-59 is less than you need to pass a law or even stop a filibuster.

Does the Left fight as hard as they could? No. We don't have any genuine psychos we don't have the same media presence no matter what you've been told over the years and its even less true now.

Calm your tits, Ish. Your bearded ginger crush isn't in any danger from the government hiring John Wick for a black bag job and that song is not an anthem to a revolution.

This is the song you wish it could be but can never and will never while doing exactly everything you mention above.

Did you ever bust a nut over that other "ditty" by Jason Aldean yet? Oh you forgot allllll about that one, didn't you?
No worries, a lot of other people that yapped about it back when it was fresh off premature hype forgot about it, too. Guess them little ditties just don't ditty like they used to! :ROFLMAO:

Even when the topic isn't politics, you get everything wrong. That has happened several times before, as far back as 1958 (when the Hot 100 was brand new) with "Little Star" by The Elegants.

And since Oliver Anthony has made it clear in interviews that he doesn't really believe the right-wing views his song implies, I'd be more worried about the inevitable backlash from the Fox/Newsmax crowd when they get it through their heads that he isn't one of their own.

And?

What the conservatives don't get is that it's not a conservative anthem. But some are trying to 'piggy-back' on the immense success. Virtually all of the negative allegations that it's "right wing", "Racist" and/or whatever are coming from the "progressives." The classical liberals are right up there with those embracing the song and its sentiments. If for no other reason that the song has forced the "progressives" to self-identify gives the song immense cultural value.

The song is, and will remain, a threat to the established power structures no matter what parties the individuals may identify with. He is clearly saying that BOTH are an enemy of the people. And as such those that are attacking the song, and its message. Ergo those that are attacking the message are saying that they too identify with the established power structure are similarly identifying themselves as enemies of the people.

Did the Elegants release their song through a record company? Yes they did. He didn't. He bypassed the record industry and released his online, rejecting an 8 million dollar contract with a record company, and is making $40,000 a day without them. His song doesn't imply "rightwing views" which is a claim of the leftwing media. It only implies the truth about the lives of some of our people under the present administration, that's why it's number on on the top 100 list.

Read the fine print, "NO PRIOR CHART HISTORY."
It was the debut single on her debut album. But yes, she was with the fugees beforehand.

Fun to watch you get so defensive though over something so stupid.

Ohhhhh the examiner now… stepping up. Now at least something that has been published for a while- still the right slant on the news- but some marks for bringing something a little more from a recognized source.

Just another shaped charge of educational penetrant designed to breach your Vibranium-Adamantium reinforced frontal lobe.

This is unintentionally funny. Question, Reichguide -- what do you think would be able to breach a Vibranium-Adamantium reinforced frontal lobe?

You (or rather the article you cut and pasted) did not say "the first musician ever to hit No 1 without a record contract" (and he wouldn't be the first to do that either; Lisa Loeb did it with "Stay" in 1993). No, you said he was the first musician ever to his No 1 "with no previous chart history". That's not even close to true.
