Also... ive never heard american cheese referred to as "government" cheese before. I buy it for burgers and grilled cheese because it melts much better than regular sliced cheese. Also tastes fine. Y'all are too bougie.

I haven't either. The government cheese I was talking about was for people on welfare/WIC and came through the government, not for sale in grocery stores. It may have been American cheese, but it was the best freaking American cheese that ever was or will be. Or at least that's what my memory tells me from my early, poverty stricken years. lol
