About Our Current Heat Wave

What NASA and the European Space Agency are admitting but the media are failing to report about our current heat wave

By Thomas Lifson

The current heat wave is being relentlessly blamed on increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but there is a much more plausible explanation, one that is virtually endorsed by two of the world’s leading scientific organizations. It turns out that levels of water vapor in the atmosphere have dramatically increased over the last year-and-a-half, and water vapor is well recognized as a greenhouse gas, whose heightened presence leads to higher temperatures, a mechanism that dwarfs any effect CO2 may have.

So, why has atmospheric water vapor increased so dramatically? Because of a historic, gigantic volcanic eruption last year that I – probably along with you -- had never heard of. The mass media ignored it because it took place 490 feet underwater in the South Pacific. Don’t take it from me, take it from NASA (and please do follow the link to see time lapse satellite imagery of the underwater eruption and subsequent plume of gasses and water injected into the atmosphere):

When the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano erupted on Jan. 15, it sent a tsunami racing around the world and set off a sonic boom that circled the globe twice. The underwater eruption in the South Pacific Ocean also blasted an enormous plume of water vapor into Earth’s stratosphere – enough to fill more than 58,000 Olympic-size swimming pools. The sheer amount of water vapor could be enough to temporarily affect Earth’s global average temperature.

“We’ve never seen anything like it,”
said Luis Millán, an atmospheric scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. He led a new study examining the amount of water vapor that the Tonga volcano injected into the stratosphere, the layer of the atmosphere between about 8 and 33 miles (12 and 53 kilometers) above Earth’s surface.

So AOC can rest in peace knowing that the CO2 she emits with her constant uninformed BS can continue without excessive environmental damage.
Good read.

This topic, again, *groan*

It always amuses me that when weather does not conform to GlowBall Warning, I t means nothing, because it's just weather and GlowBall Warning is a long-term type of thing, centuries, millennia, you name it but when you have aberrant weather, well, then there's your proof of GlowBall Warning unless you don't "science..."

Good read.
Atmospherics water temp increased because the emissions from cruise ships has been regulated to stop emitting particles into the atmosphere..once they did, the suns rays were able to oenetrate

Did you read the papers linked in the article? We're not talking about the troposphere, we're talking about the stratosphere. Big difference.

We're talking about water temp being higher resulting in increased water vapor.

No we fucking aren't, you are. The injection of all that water vapor into the stratosphere preceded the overall warming effect we observed after the fact.

Yes, volcanoes increase global temperature. That doesn't negate human impact on global temperature due to CO2 emissions. Sorry

Climate change denial is the present day "smoking is harmless, honest".

And it's capitalism causing climate change, not "humans" or "man made". Nearly all humans are powerless, subject to the law of the jungle known as "the markets" which only cares about profits today and tomorrow. It can't even see to next week, let alone the decades to come.
Socialism with the same dependence on industrial economic expansion won't get us out of this, and won't be accepted here. When capitalism, socialism, and industrialism are distant memories centuries later, climate change will still be happening. The pollution legacy will also last millennia. The many leftist attempts here to pretend we can still have high energy consumption middle class lives without fossil fuels show we won't be deindustrializing voluntarily. But losing the Ukraine war and global hegemony looks likely to be the next kick down the slope of less energy and more poverty.

Why do you keep doing this to yourself? Use credible sources. Unless of course it's for sport and not meant to be taken seriously.
Did you see the link to NASA? That's right clown, so put on your baggy pants and big red nose and take bow.

I'm not sure AJ, Assmeal, nor Rightguide read the NASA link, either.
In contrast, the Tonga volcano didn’t inject large amounts of aerosols into the stratosphere, and the huge amounts of water vapor from the eruption may have a small, temporary warming effect, since water vapor traps heat. The effect would dissipate when the extra water vapor cycles out of the stratosphere and would not be enough to noticeably exacerbate climate change effects.
Oops.

See the post below. And you of all people here have no room to be calling anyone a clown.

He never gets it right. And he wonders why everyone blows off his peg the needle rwcj links.

Did you see the link, clown? Yeah, that's the source the story is based on. You should learn how to read before you start shooting off your mouth about credible sources. You should work on your own lack of credibility as well, that goes for Von Neutered as well.

While our current heat wave is about El Nino and as much as I hate rain I predict next year is gonna be bad for me. That said do I really need to explain evaporation? Higher heat, more evaporation, more vapors. I mean I'm sure you've seen rain not to mention the oceans which maybe you've never seen. It sometimes shocks me hw people have never traveled.

Take a look at China and how the weather is kicking their asses right now. Beijing just suffered one of the biggest floods in its recorded history. Something like 23 inches of rain fell in parts of the city:

Along with the smart people here, did you also put reality on ignore?

The volcano is not the only reason that recent temps have spiked. A large portion is based on water temps rising when they have previously been stable.

It sometimes shocks me hw people have never traveled.
Travel is becoming more expensive with rising energy prices and stagnating wages, for less reward as more of the world becomes corporatized. And highly polluting jet travel is a factor in climate change, but leftists who take frequent vacations around the world don't like to admit that part.

Socialism with the same dependence on industrial economic expansion won't get us out of this, and won't be accepted here.
Socialism with emphasis on workers' control, on economic planning for ordinary people, and not on the profit motive of a tiny number of billionaires like capitalism while ordinary people suffer greater poverty and no hope in the future.

It's the billionaire lives that are the problem, not middle class lives. We cannot afford the existence of the super rich anymore, as simple as that.

Yes and I read both articles. Unlike your rwcj link claiming corporate media suppression of the Tonga eruption due to political reasons and there ya have it we‘re in for a few more years of extra heat exaggeration, NASA said “may” and the water vapor wouldn’t do much anyway.

Per the article:“the Tonga volcano didn't inject large amounts of aerosols into the stratosphere, and the huge amounts of water vapor from the eruption MAY have a small, temporary warming effect, since water vapor traps heat. The effect would dissipate when the extra water vapor cycles out of the stratosphere [which could be a few years]”

So not corporate media hiding science for political reasons, more like they’re not reporting a nothingburger. You should work on your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Maybe you and Harpy can split the cost of a tutor.

The whole pyramid will get lower. The collapse of the global economy will run a forest fire through vast piles of digital assets. Long supply chains for all types of products are becoming more fragile. Poor people with experience in barter, improvised repairs, growing their own food, and other practical DIY skills will be in better shape than billionaires who only know how to give orders and buy loyalty.

Keep your eyes on China, their economy is in freefall as we speak. We will soon see to what lengths the CCP will go to to retain power and how far and deep the economic ripples spread. There will be some benefit to the environment long term...................after their years of pollution is washed away or cleaned up with someone else's money.

The bolded are not likely to be working class. The real political left is for socialism and the working class, not for corporate liberals and Democrats with loads of $$$$$.
