Tonga Volcanic Eruption was Another Environmental Catastrophe

Apparently that relatively recent Tonga volcanic eruption injected so much water into Earth’s atmosphere that it could weaken the ozone layer and the atmospheric water vapor released could also contribute to global warming.

It seriously looks like we have a problem with excess water vapor in the atmosphere contributing to global warming. Or cooling. Or something. And being as these days environmental issues are all so political, I though this belonged on the politics board, especially as I have a solution that every single one of us can help implement, wherever we are!

Now, its seems the eruption pumped the equivament of 58,000 Olympic swimming pools of water into the atmosphere. There's 660,000 gallons in a pool x 58,000 pools = 38,280,000,000 gallons. Now lets just assume 8,000,000,000 people and we end up with 4.785 gallons per person. Now THAT is not an insurmountable challenge to remove when you address it on a per person basis.

Lets dig into this water vapor thing. It's water in the atmosphere, right? That's what we use dehumidifiers for, right? Now it might take more than a few days to collect 4.785 gallons out of the atmosphere where I live because it can get a bit dry but my dehumidifier is pretty good. If I run it for a couple of weeks I'm sure I can collect that, and if you live down south or on the east coast, I'm sure your dehumidifier can do that in 2 or 3 days. Now, we have 8,000,000,000 people in the world, more or less, and of course there are a lot of people living in third world shitholes without dehumidifiers, but we're Americans! It's our duty to save the world. It's in our genes so don't say we can't do it!

Where there's a will, there's a way, and, well, we almost all have dehumidifiers.

So lets get to it! I, personally, am going to do my bit to help alleviate this environmental catastrophe this summer by putting my dehumidifier out on the deck and turning it on full. I'm sure it'll extract at least a gallon every few days from the atmosphere and if I run it non-stop, I can also fill in the quota's from a few environmentally inconsiderate non-dehumidifier equipped third worlders. Even better, I can reduce my water bill by using the extracted water to water my flowers and herb garden. Win-win. Now if all of us each put our dehumidifiers outside for a few weeks this summer, especially if you live down south where it's humid and you can get more bang for the buck..... we can all contribute to fixing the problem.

Now I do understand there are people without dehumidifiers so to help we can each get a few more and line them up and run them non-stop all summer. Electricity bill? No y problema. My neighbors are environmentally conscious and have outdoor plugs - I'll just run a few extension cords across and help them do good for the world so there'll be little or no impact to my own bill!

So, all my politically aware and environmentally conscious friends, please join me in saving the world from yet another environmental catastrophe. Start buying dehumidifiers now to cool the planet!

Thanks @ChloeTzang for a good chuckle. Btw unless a large proportion of the dehumidifiers are powered by nuclear, hydro, wind or solar you will just be extracting one thing and replacing it with another.
