Sex & Shenanigans

I maybe shouldn't bitch so much about my job....

Although...when I had Covid this spring, my "boss" (LMFAO....boss....ha!) did call me at home and I did respond...and we did work...
Yeah, sick days aren't *really* in my profession.

One December I was really sick. Caughing so bad...I knew something was really wrong...and it had been going on for a while....
So, I prepped up the thing that had to be done the next day and walked into my "bosses" office and told him: it's on my desk, I'm going to the Doc, if I'm not in tomorrow, take care of it.
He looked at me and said, "fuck...get out of here...you look like hell"
Turns out walking pneumonia is a thing? But one night with strong anti-biotics and a good (codine based) caught medicine works wonders...LOL...
I didn't realize how sick I really was until that morning when I felt SO MUCH BETTER!
I went in....
Walking pneumonia is a thing.
I knew a boss had a cough for awhile. His wife finally got him to go to the doctor. Doctor told him to get to the hospital immediately. A week later he passed. He was in his early 40s. In good health other than pneumonia.

Same. I’m not allowed to be sick and it’s expected of me to work after hours.
You know, honestly, I think in my profession its more "culture" than requirement.
I think we do it to ourselves....
The Covid this spring (winter? Beginning of March). I was travelling at the time I came down with it.
Came back and went into the office that afternoon...I didn't think it was Covid? I honestly thought it was just a cold. (I'd had Covid already once, and I was just not anywhere near as miserable?)
I tested the next morning not because I thought I had it, but because I was like, "I gotta go in and get work done and I gotta be able to say, 'I tested'"
Fuck....
Honestly, I almost never took a day off work for illness prior to 2020. I'm 30 years in the profession (35 if you count "school time"). The only illness that kept me out of the office was stomach stuff...cuz...duh.

I agree. Definitely my work ethic and possibly what I expect from myself.

Yep, my last job waa that way. I worked every holiday away from home and 1 weekend a month as well as M-F. Worked through a 2 year leg injury, eye surgery, you name it... Paid well and I had sick days and such, but I got grief from my manager for taking a whole day off to have my wisdom teeth removed! It really should have been a half day, lmao

But my new job is pretty good. My boss told me last summer that I needed to work less, lol. I was averaging 60hrs a week. Now I'm down to like 45!! It's so nice to have a weekend.
