We had these neighbors back 18 years ago who had this dog. She was the best, smartest, sweetest, incredible dog in the history of good, smart, sweet, incredible dogs. He went into the military and could not have the dog on base.
So we inherited the dog. She was amazing. She also was some sort of strange, wonky, short-legged, freakish mutt creature who could have won “America’s Ugliest Dog.” She was so ugly she was cute.
We also had other dogs. She loved Daisy, our little shih tzu.
I started to write the whole story but it’s too much of a downer to post here… Her name was Nebula. Several years later Nebby died trying to rescue Daisy… and every time I see Nebula post I laugh and I cry and I remember the funniest, cutest, ugliest, smartest, most heroic dog I’ve ever known. And I can’t type anything… but I’m glad I remember.
I just hope Nebby isn’t offended that she reminds me of my dog!
