79 years ago today. 97% of the first wave didn't come home.

Yes we do know: they were fake. His father paid a podiatrist to lie that he had bone spurs.

Because Biden came by his honestly.
They were obtained honestly. What where the reasons? 5 times asked, 5 times said no. Ok. Why? Claimed asthma as a teen. However he was healthy enough for the following

“Joe Biden's love for football began during his high school days at Archmere Academy in Claymont, Delaware. He played as a wide receiver and earned a reputation for his dedication and work ethic. Following his graduation, Biden carried his passion for the sport to the next level when he attended the University of Delaware.”

Let’s just say he just “didn’t wanna”. Like Trump. And Clinton. So… yeah, “no shows”

Those who aren’t fit to serve their fellow man wish to rule them.

Yes, I consider this cowardice and weak. Those who pull that shit are choosing to wear that shit for their lives. So all these politicians are crap.

Ever hear of student deferments? There's nothing wrong with getting one.

Both clowns’ weren’t student deferments.
Biden's deferments were student deferments, except for his final one which was for asthma (and which didn't shield him from all draft scenarios, only most).

So the final one was for asthma that he claimed he had as a teen. It wasn’t claimed earlier on the first four times. The teenage asthma didn’t prevent playing high school and college football. Got it.

You don't take a physical when you have a 1-S student deferment.

Tell us of your own military service. How many VC did you kill in the 'Nam?
Don't you mean, "Gooks"???? However could you miss an opportunity to use your favored racial slur?

MMC(ss/dv/sw) and not nearly old enough to be Vietnam Era.

Thank you to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

#DDay

Biden a no show, Harris a no show
I admit to missing your unnecessary political commentary. Why was that so important to you that it draws from your original message?

It is truly sad that a post attempting to remember and honor a generation of men, and women, that sacrificed more than any of us can ever understand has to turn into yet another hate filled political battlefield.

I thank veterans everyday, whether at work, or out and about in the world. It doesn't cost anything and it lets them know we remember them and the sacrifices they made.
I do too, but who makes the decision not to observe the remembrance in the government and the media. Not you. not me.

One of the reasons I don’t post here very often. What started out as a observation about D-Day ( with a minor tag line at the end), has a usual “ gone off the rails” & descended into the typical partisan “ tit for tat” name calling & disparaging remarks. Let’s remember D-Day for what it was. Thank You.

Every thread evolves in much the same way. We see the same thing happening in today's public political discourse as well. Politics has always been a dirty mudslinging social undertaking. In reality, it's much more tame today than say 150 years ago.:)

Your posts are always the same. Everything is worse than it is and everything is Democrats' fault.

I so want to agree with you.
But I must respectfully say that I believe that you have a misunderstanding of just how offensive it is to the memories of fallen soldiers and living Americans who believe in the constitution and the defense of democratic values to hear a peep about sacrifice and honor from people supporting politicians who tried to overthrow this democracy or even tickle the notion that our election process was illegitimate.

I do not believe that anyone criticizing and calling this out this dishonors the sacrifice of our soldiers from this past memorial day. In fact, I believe, it is our duty in honoring their memory to call out people who have aligned themselves with fascism and Nazis.

RoryN does have a particular political stance but created this a-political thread that I think you will find more reverential.

This thread appears to be ending, but I really, Really, REALLY want to bring awareness to a point that I see in thread after thread of where it’s mostly folks on the Left, like me, hurling the most insulting and inflammatory accusations towards those of a different political viewpoint.

Imagine, if you will, starting a thread about Memorial Day or D-Day and my ass comes along and calls you a Nazi and a fascist. Then others on my side pile on with even more venom. Our revolting and un-American comments just lay there for days rotting and stinking up the pages like roadkill and you don’t refute nor deny any of those insults and neither does anyone on your side takes offense either. The only thing resembling pushback is maybe someone parsing the difference between Memorial and Veterans Day. How would you feel about that? What would you think about that? I can tell you what I think about it. I’m saddened these words have meaning, not in 1930s Germany, but in this country in 2023 and I think it’s because many on the other side can’t discern these damning indictments and, worse, have become comfortable embracing them. So if there’s someone of good standing on the other side seeing this and wanting to take issue with what I just said, don’t, ok? It’s already too fucking late.

It is possible to vehemetly disagree with someone without insults, character assassination and outright lies about them. But that takes work. Being a playground, or literotica forums, bully takes no effort at all and actually shows laziness and an unwillingness to seriously engage. Many here resort to that. How do they even pretend to think that behavior will influence me positively? At this point I could say the sun is in the sky and be attacked for it. It's boring really.

There is nothing implausible about that. They're two different situations with two different standards of what is acceptable.

I just made a note to myself to try to shorten my posts and you ask me this?
Lol ok.

I can only speak for myself in my approach so here is my short version: I make no excuses for wanting to disgrace and shame a segment of this population who embrace hatred, misogyny, and racism. Folks who, when faced with appeals for empathy, called others snowflakes and gleefully told people to go fuck their feelings. Folks who idolize Donald Trump six days of the week to then extol Christ on Sunday. Hypocrites.

I do curse them and their political stances. As I stated before, they seem to take offense to me personally calling them pieces of shit while leaving the political statement of say, being called a Nazi, untouched. The hypocrisy of this seems very evident to me, but I am willing to entertain that an onlooker does not notice this and could well accuse me of going down to their level.

I've mentioned in another thread that I do want to convince you with facts to vote out Republicans.
And your last question is very good - it demands self reflection.
4 yrs of 20k+ documented lies. The grifting. The sucking up to despots. The tax breaks for the wealthy. The nepotism. The Covid deaths. The 25% increase in debt. The ignorance to gun violence. I could go on and on.
I see no guilt from the other side, no deep dive into their conscious for any mistakes. I have no answer to anyone who's lived in America the last 6 years and "listens to both sides" (a general reference) and thinks me butt-hurting someone here opens them to considering a possible vote or return to anything that formerly resembled the GOP.

Not my best reply, but tried to shorten.

This is a topic to start on another thread. We've gone waaaaay past talking Memorial Day, D-Day.

No one that resorts to name calling, attacks, or blatant lies about me has a snowballs chance in hell of convincing me that what they believe is better. I have resorted to eliminating people that only snipe instead of conversing.
