desantis bans degrees in CRT and DEI in florida's public colleges

“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”

Lol, your brain must be tied into knots with this kind of thinking.

Or do you think the way the current "woke" social agenda is being treated is any different than what you posted about "Conservatism"?

^ this is censorship motivated by pique and cloaked in snark.

Reminder, you don't own this soapbox and have no power to tell me I cannot engage you in polite debate. Your only choice is whether you wish to speak or not.
I’m going to keep speaking out against racist posters no matter what you say. I would hope you would do the same.

I applaud your participation in free speech. You go girl. (<-- which is fundamentally different than a Yugo girl even though it sounds very similar.)

But they are only "binding" us because we aren't smart enough to make decisions for our welfare...so they need to do it for us

Really?

And yet you somehow managed to mangle this one out and get it into the conversation anyway without anyone stopping you. Go you! for being a speech rebel.

Bring “woke” means being aware of institutional racism instead of only responding to individual racist acts. In that sense I hope I’m woke, but it requires constant to effort to recognize my own unearned privilege. It’s akin to false consciousness in Marxist thought.

More knots.

Try: "I speak out against the things I disagree with and hope that others will also agree with my views."

Much easier to say without distortion or garbling.

A fair summary of my position.

Racism is wrong. Sexism is wrong. Antisemitism is wrong. I have no problem with baldly stating what I believe and opposing those who think otherwise.

Only racists agree with racist views. Same as with Fascists
Basically, this says it all.

And as said above, racism is wrong, sexism is wrong and anti-semitism is wrong- and YES, this should be universally accepted as so. IF we start accepting racism, etc. as okay, or even (a la Ron DeSantis) actively promoting it, then we are devolving as a society. But what we have instead is people like Hisarpy/Icanhelp/etc. and Rightguide saying that racism is not only okay but should be encouraged as "Free Speech" or "screw you for speaking out against things we disagree with." And then, ironically, deny being racists.

So where's the problem? You say your bit, I say my bit and we all go home afterward.

Unless you still think that you getting to say your bit means that I don't get to say mine.

Do you agree with me that racism is wrong? I’ve been blunt with you about what I believe. I’m asking you be be similarly blunt with me. In my experience people who defend racists with free speech argument are racists themselves. Prove me wrong.

First, you equate 2 things as being the same thing when they aren't.

Lawyers defend people. That defense doesn't mean they agree with what the person did, it means that people are entitled to a defense and the lawyer stepped up to do that. Hell, sometimes the lawyer is appointed and doesn't have any say about it.

This doesn't only apply to legal proceedings or courtrooms or even the requirement that someone has to be a lawyer. It applies everywhere to anyone who decides to step up and stand against the mob because you don't have to be a lawyer to denounce a mob wanting to lynch someone for being a racist (or whatever else the mob uses as an excuse to commit violence).

So the first thing you have to understand is that tagging someone as a racist because they defend a racist is WRONG and it makes you as much of a racist as the person you're denouncing.

Secondly, I'm not a fan of discrimination in any form. I don't practice it on a personal or professional level. That doesn't mean I have to go out of my way to denounce everything that I personally/professionally view as discriminatory. I also don't feel the need to put myself in the front lines of dividing society on an issue which will never go away because if it isn't skin color then it's hair color, or eye color, or political affiliation, or choice of religion, or whatever the fuck is next on the "I think you're different than I am so I hate you" list. Up to and including the idea that if someone doesn't actively oppose racism then you hate them for that too.

We here in the US have the right to free speech. My preference would be that we all go and use it for GOOD and stop using it to hurt people in the game of social media self gratification.

Defend Mike Pence.

This shit was debunked literally ages ago. Way before even Jesus. Get a clue.

“Silence gives consent”

Plato was a prominent Greek philosopher who lived from 428/427 BCE to 348/347 BCE. He was a student of Socrates and the teacher of Aristotle. Plato was one of the most influential philosophers in Western civilisation, and his ideas continue to be studied and debated to this day.

One of Plato’s most famous quotes is “Silence gives consent.” This quote reflects his belief that failing to speak out against injustice is tantamount to condoning it. Plato believed that individuals had a moral obligation to speak out against injustice and to work to make society a more just and equitable place.

Since when is standing up to voice your opposition against the mob, "silence"? Especially when a reading of Plato actually PROVES that standing up to the mob is "fulfilling the moral obligation to speak out against injustice."

Basically, what you posted only supports my position and makes you look like a complete asshole for thinking it doesn't.

You kinda stole my thunder lol.
This guy says, “We here in the US have the right to free speech. My preference would be that we all go and use it for GOOD.”

And also….

“I’m not a fan of discrimination…”
But why me go out way to call it out?
I’ll leave that to better law dudes.
Sheez.

The mob of anti-racists that make racists feel uncomfortable about their racism? Boo fucking hoo!

Excuse me!
I asked my question first.
It was much easier than explaining Plato.

Wrong is wrong. The fact that people band together to commit that wrong doesn't make is less wrong.

That you would use opposition against wrongdoing to falsely promote violence and wrongdoing under Plato's banner is shameful. He, like I, would be appalled.

Wait!! If teachers are going to leave Florida?
