This is correct - by process, once the prosecution has completed gathering and presenting their evidence to the grand jury, they lay out the specific case and the specific charges they're asking the grand jury to find probable cause for, then they leave them to review the evidence and charges and determine, via majority vote, whether or not probable cause exists.

That is one of the reasons a Tuesday indictment is unlikely. The grand jury still needs to hear from another witness, and then has to go through and make their determination. A grand jury indictment is not evidence or determination of guilt. It's a determination, by majority, of probable cause to proceed.

I will be curious to see what specific charges (if any) they levy. This is a state grand jury, not a federal grand jury, so they are limited to the constraints of New York state law.
