Do you use it? If so, what is your original country (you don't have to answer that of course.)

To me, when I see an email closed with the phrase 'Best Regards', it's a signal that the sender is not from North America.

I'm not saying it's a giant red flag, but ......

JaFO,

I've used Best regards in the past but depending upon the subject.
I also don't use 'Hi' in an email unless I know them.
If a formal email, then I would type just their name only. I may put on a necktie while typing but that's just me.

Never used it. Or if I have only in very business related emails.

It seems to be a standard substitute for 'Sincerely' which used to be the standard business closing. More personal letters might have 'Yous truly' or similar.

I noticed it primarily in messages I know came from Asian sources once outsourcing took over. I'm not saying that in a bad way, but it was almost a signature way of saying the message came from that region of the world.

Frankly I've seen all kinds of greetings from everywhere - including Best Regards from the US - so I am afraid I can't confirm.

Best,
Vibes
😁

The rules of letter writing are

“Yours sincerely” if you use a person’s name in the salutation (including whether you use a title or a first name)

“Yours faithfully” if the salutation is Dear Sir or Madam

I'm taking notes....expect a letter!

Emails to work colleagues I sign with regards or if in my team or I am on friendly terms with them then kind regards.

Sweden.

Gosh... Should I? Do I even want to...

Are you honestly saying, that if a mail is not from North America, it is a gigantic red flag.. 🙄

Kind regards,

From Scandinavia.
In the particular instances I'm dealing with. Yes.

It's hard to explain much further, but I'm trying to get a vehicle shipped within the US and I'm not comfortable with an offshore agent. I don't care much about when it in most cases, but when dealing with certain matters, I do not like outsourcing, especially when they show a corporate business address that appears to be a Private Mail Box in a basic retail storefront.

My work one has warm regards

In the type of work i do is very common to use some sort of regards. And I'm in north America. Specifically the US.

Sometimes i use sincerely or respectfully but that's more so in letters.

It would be hard to outsource shipping a car within the us bro. Makes no sense to infer whoever is emaling you is not from or in the usa based on their email signature lol

I definitely see the Asian connection and yes, that is how many if not most end Emails. I try to get out of that stage of anonymity as quickly as possible.

I worked to find out what sports team you liked. Go Bears. Or the name of their wife or husband and end witg the say hi to....and we will talk later. Sales...is a relationship.

This is the correct take. My company is global and I deal with many people from all over the world daily. I see very little correlation between country of origin and closing salutation. Yes, I see Best Regards from Asia but I also see Sincerely from Asia. I also see Best Regards from North America. Kind Regards is common from Europe in my experience but I’ve seen that in the US too.

I think there is actually quite a lot of mirroring that happens in these types of communications where certain people adapt to the greetings others use. I’m somewhat old school and always used “Dear ____” to start an email but everyone uses “Hi ____” now so I’ve adapted. Kids these days.
Dear sounds so weird and i avoid it as much as I can.

What do you use for your closing?

With utmost respect,

Lionel

The story is that they are brokers communicating with drivers bidding on carrying the vehicle.
If it is just one vehicle...without the possibility of a lot of repeated business...is it worth it? Most companies that buy vehicles here and ship them overseas have their own container that the vehicle goes in. If they don't have their own container...I'd be leary.
