It doesn’t really matter how quickly you ‘poof’ a picture, once it is up it can be downloaded anywhere and everywhere. I had this happen to me in 2013 on a site called DeviantArt. My pictures were taken and used on another site that was called ‘Girls I want to fuck.’ It took a long time for me to get the pictures removed but I know that they are still out there. Was I stupid, yes definitely. My dad used to warn me and my brother about FB etc but who listens to parents 😂. I think the best approach is to use unsee.cc to show images. It’s not foolproof but the images do get the viewers IP address as watermarks so it is a deterrent. Also you can see who is viewing the pic (not name or location, just shows a person) and you can set a time for how long you want the pic displayed for.
I am sorry to hear that this happened to you. I was almost scammed when I was most vulnerable after the death of my wife, by what was probably fake photos and a good con. I protect my FB profile by restricting who can see it. But my LinkedIn is public as it was a critical part of my profession.

My face is on my IG account, I made the decision that that’s okay. My picture is also in our annual report, which can be found online so there’s that too😂😂🤣

Another thing you can do. If you’re on google Chrome. Right click on the image. A list pops up. On the list is Search I think it’s named. Chrome then searches the Net for pictures of the image and close to it.

🥱
Challenge: to make today such that the work week wouldn't make me so anxious.

Aargh. Not possible. Can't rest enough for that, nor get enough nice things done to not feel like Monday comes too soon and next weekend too far away.

I did that in the case of the scammer and nothing came up as odd. It's a good first start but other steps are neccessary. I went to AARP web site on scams etc. It has a good list of steps to protect you and red flags.

My wife had similar issues during cancer treatments and found mindfulness meditation helped and also GiGong relaxation. I hope these might help.

Doesn't help much, as it doesn't solve the conflict. I barely get enough rest to survive Monday at work - probably not all work week. Not to actually enjoy things that I want to use my time for. Work with 50% time, the minimal household stuff, 2 dates. That's already a bit too much for a week. Getting more tired every week.

Another reason I poof. I think they’d be less ‘stolen’. Yes there’s every chance that someone may still screenshot etc but I’d like to trust that most people like me are here for fun and friendship and really can’t have incriminating pics in their devices 🤭
Obviously I'd more concerned about posting anything that would make you identifiable, even for a short period. Other stuff could get swiped, but it's up to the individual as to whether that's a concern to them.

As for fun and friendship, that may be true for the people you "see" on the threads. There are probably a lot more that you don't see since anyone can view Lit.

And not storing incriminating pics on their devices is easily circumvented with locked folders and other means.

Yes, I'm probably being overly security conscious, but it's worked for me so far. Being in IT, I've just always been cautious about what I expose, no pun intended. And even then I've inadvertently revealed info, (it was contained in a shared Dropbox link), though luckily it was to someone I trust.
