I am sorry to hear that this happened to you. I was almost scammed when I was most vulnerable after the death of my wife, by what was probably fake photos and a good con. I protect my FB profile by restricting who can see it. But my LinkedIn is public as it was a critical part of my profession.It doesn’t really matter how quickly you ‘poof’ a picture, once it is up it can be downloaded anywhere and everywhere. I had this happen to me in 2013 on a site called DeviantArt. My pictures were taken and used on another site that was called ‘Girls I want to fuck.’ It took a long time for me to get the pictures removed but I know that they are still out there. Was I stupid, yes definitely. My dad used to warn me and my brother about FB etc but who listens to parents. I think the best approach is to use unsee.cc to show images. It’s not foolproof but the images do get the viewers IP address as watermarks so it is a deterrent. Also you can see who is viewing the pic (not name or location, just shows a person) and you can set a time for how long you want the pic displayed for.
