Sigh...funny thing about acronyms...they are pronounced the way the creator of the acronym pronounces them. Not for what they represent. But that's OK.

Sigh...it's a good thing that the Creator didn't say that GIF was pronounced like 'pox'. Otherwise, you'd be trying to justify that. Pronunciations aren't permanent. The JIF pronunciation has been replaced and is being relegated to a trivia question. (You may as well try insisting that Dr. Seuss should be pronounced to rhyme with 'Boyce'. Cuz, ya know, that's how the Creator pronounced it.)
