Goodbye, Jeff...

Damn Legend

One of my favs with Billy Gibbons and Tal Wikenfield who he really put on the map as premiere bass player having her tour with him.

The name didn't ring a bell when one of my wife's boyfriends mentioned his passing yesterday. So I spent a few minutes on YouTube to see what I missed. It was a reminder that too many years of studying and performing in the classical music milieu more or less blinded me to the talents of folks like Beck. If I only knew...

Yeah, that one made me sad.

I'm gonna be devastated when Robert Plant leaves us.
That crusty old bugger has a while to go yet, I reckon.

For me, the big one was Leonard Cohen; next "getting old" will be Pete or Rog from The Who, and of course, one of the Glimmer Twins.

Beck was a sudden one though - best guitarist ever, after Hendrix, I reckon. He gets the edge on Jimmy Page because he kept on going.

While Leonard was Canadian like me, I have a personal connection with Robert Plant. I was fired as his bodyguard in 2016.

And I wasn't his bodyguard at the time. Only I could pull that off. 😂

Ah, that's a big difference. Good trick though, to get fired from something you weren't!
