I'd be concerned if it wasn't for this.
Yes, for every 'simp' critic there are 50 who love the dynamic 100%.

I won't steal it, but I love that turn of phrase — veneer of plausibility. LOL Fits my silly smut perfectly. My numbers are about a quarter of those, but they're enough to support my view that I should just keep doing what I'm doing and not pay too much attention to nasty critics.
I honestly write stories of the kind I know I'd enjoy as a reader. I've been reading erotics stories here, and to a lesser extent on other sites, for over 20 years, and I have a pretty good idea what I like. If the stories involve certain stereotypes, so be it.
I'd say this about the stereotype issue, however: having written stories here for over eight years, I'm more attentive now to trying to tweak the stereotypes to make them fresh or give them a veneer of plausibility.
How do you decide what to sell and what to post here?here or for sale
The last few years everything I write goes for sale. Once a story has been in the market for a while and sales are slow I'll drop one on here. There are some that will never be here simply because some things that work for sale wouldn't go over great here because of how they're a mix of genres and no matter where I put it here, some would trash it.How do you decide what to sell and what to post here?
Hooker with a Heart of Gold
I want to live
I want to give
I've been a hooker
with a heart of gold
It's these expressions
I never give
That keep me hooking
With a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Hooking...
With a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
Hooking with a heart of gold
I've been in my mind
It's such a fine line
That keeps me hooking
With a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Hooking...
With a heart of gold
And I'm getting old
Keep me hooking
With a heart of gold
You keep me hooking
And I'm growing old
Keep me hooking
With a heart of gold
I've been a hooker
With a heart of gold
Johnny Cash version.

I've written about three hookers (including a series about one) and I've tried to humanize them. But they don't have any illusions about what they are doing. They usually speak in terms of business and marketing metaphors, not sexual ones. One of them chides a customer who wants a "freebie" after the main session is over.I use them all the time, because they're easy to write, mainly for secondary characters.
Here are some of mine:
The Cynical Sidekick/Confidante - ("Donkey" in Shreck, "Cyn" in "Working Girl", Larry David's buddy Jeff, and the orginal version, Sancho Panza)
The Hard-bitten Hooker with a Heart of Gold
The Hen-pecked husband and his sexually frustrated dominant wife - very British, this: (UK sitcom "George and Mildred")
The Cad and Bounder - The unscrupulous male sexual predator
The Bored Housewife who gave up her career as a dancer/photographer/concert pianist
The Frustrated Suburbanite who dreams of escaping his dull life
...and many more.
Which sterotypes do you find yourself writing all too often?
I honestly recoil a bit from the acceptance of the term "lazy stereotype," because stereotypes are not in and of themselves lazy. There's often some truth in them, and they have always been useful in fiction, even what we think of as "good" or "literary" fiction. I think with even modest effort you can breathe enough life in a "lazy" character to move him or her into the "non-lazy" category.
In other words, everything that people tend to write here, right?Hmm. For me it's -
1. The widow or divorcee who isn't looking for a new relationship yet, but some young hard dick is exactly what she needs. A bit vanilla in the past, she's ready to be a bit slutty.
2. The young man who doesn't do well with girls his age, but the older ladies like him because he's a decent sort of guy.
3. The woman who's on the rebound after a bad break up. Add #2.
4. The classic lousy husband.
5. The man who is everything #4 isn't and the wife realizes she deserves better.
6. The curvy, Rubenesque older woman. Pretty much every FMC for me.
Well yeah. I mean, they are stereotypes for a reason. In other words, everything that people tend to write here, right?
Uh, huh, they are!Well yeah. I mean, they are stereotypes for a reason.![]()
Interesting take seeing in your intro thread you mentioned you're into BNWO which is the ultimate in derogatory stereotypes of both the thug black man and cockwhore white woman who is a slave to black men because white men are so awful. It's draw is literally every racist trope in erotica.Cuckold stories falling back on small, pricked husband and big black cocked bull. Especially when the black man's only reason for being in the story is the BBC. Well, his oversized Johnson and his gnarly attitude. It reduces them to less than human. And I'm sure I'll write one that way if I get around to a traditional cuckolding story. I want my interracial relationships to be based on something deeper than that. And every man has a huge penis and constant hard-on in erotica. There's a time and place for them. However, I want something else to be present in my writing, though I may fail miserably, I'm hoping to do better than that.
That is my goal, to change the genre, not portray the men as cruel and aggressive or cuckolds as small, cocked losers. My first story is about femdom and a client. I see BNWO as steppingstone to a more formal acceptance of blacks being able to ascend to positions of power, perhaps over whites (in a dystopian future), sometimes the white guilt that is common in the more liberal minded community, and sometimes through hard work and planning, and it will probably a power wrestled from a white husband, wife, boss, whatever. But I really want it to be more than standard cuckold stories.Interesting take seeing in your intro thread you mentioned you're into BNWO which is the ultimate in derogatory stereotypes of both the thug black man and cockwhore white woman who is a slave to black men because white men are so awful. Not that people can't try to change things within a genre, but when a genre is built on stereotypes its readers crave, it's not easy. It would be the same as me writing a brother sister story, but in this one? They say ewwww, and don't have sex. Doubt that would go over well.
I think my main point in my comment is that some kinks-genres whatever word you prefer-are not just full of stereotypes they are the stereotype, and I wonder how many serious fans of it would be receptive to what feeds their kink being altered. That is my goal, to change the genre, not portray the men as cruel and aggressive or cuckolds as small, cocked losers. You have a valid point, and I don't believe the first will hurt their feelings. The second one they will love, because I'm playing into the stereotypes in that one. The dystopian future is a kind of survival of the fittest and best prepared tale. But the leader of group has fallen for his BS for sometimes and not only sees himself as an emissary and profit of God, but as a god, albeit he thinks he's a little higher than the angels and only just under God himself. Because power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely is more than a saying, and the main reason dictatorships and emperors' reigns generally end very, very, extremely badly. How many of the Emperors of Roman's deaths were from natural causes. Not many, and many of those may have been poisoned.I think my main point in my comment is that some kinks-genres whatever word you prefer-are not just full of stereotypes they are the stereotype, and I wonder how many serious fans of it would be receptive to what feeds their kink being altered.
Keep in mind what droves BNWO is literally all the nasty negative things you don't like in the cuck genre. This is that genre on steroids. So, good for you for having some ideas to spin it, that's always worth trying, but the bulk of the readership is going to be WTF?
I'll give you a personal example. I wrote an incest story way back in 2012. Looking back, not one of my better stories, but whatever. Point is a reader was so angry at the point of the story he reached out and said nasty things to me. But later they apologized, just said the story pissed them off and asked would I mind if he rewrote the ending and published it. I said, sure, not a problem. So he did, but the thing is, this was a mother son story and in his ending, the son turns down sex with the mother. Let's say, it did not go over well with the readers because they want incest in an incest story.
What do the people in written and video BNWO want? Its not "nicer characters who act like good people"
Good luck with that, hope it works out. usually when that kink is mentioned it is in the usual sense so good on you for seeing if you can subvert some of it.You have a valid point, and I don't believe the first will hurt their feelings. And while my bio says I'm interested in BNWO that isn't entirely true. I'm interested in becoming more fully fulfilled and have a stronger voice and influence in America. I'm interested in less blacks behind bars, especially those wrongfully convicted. I want fewer black killing blacks or anyone else, and for the cops to stop killing black folk for any reason (or no reason).
That is what my blog and writing out the great real world is about. But this is more for fun, but if I can interject my own hopes into stories for people to read, and hopefully think more about, that'll be great as well.
Okay, stepping off soap box, taking my bow, and sitting back into my seat, mouth shut, ears open.
Yeah, I know, I'm worried I'll never be able to move past the KINK of the fetish and keep people reading or buying my stories. I'm just a wordsmithing, looking at readers, begging them to love me. Or hate me, for those that'll never like any interracial or cuckolding or femdom story at all!Good luck with that, hope it works out. usually when that kink is mentioned it is in the usual sense so good on you for seeing if you can subvert some of it.
I'm not much for the interracial direct kinks, but have written scenes in a couple of my novels, but its not fetishized, just people who are together who happen to be different ethnicities. I did have someone comment I should have 'played it up' but that wasn't the point of the story.
Always good to write to your own ideas and not buy into others.
