Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

That's cool - I am always fascinated by the journey's people take through life - how they ultimately ended up where they are in the moments I am getting to know them. Some people (either as individuals or as families, have taken some pretty amazing journeys).
Me too! I love learning about the migration of peoples and how DNA is starting to blow all that wide open.

In the Show Us Your Face thread I posted this pic and someone asked me about my necklace. A close friend made it for me with Hawaiian beach glass. The big piece for the Big Island, our ancestral home for centuries. And Oahu where my Great Grandfather moved to find work. Wound up starting a family and my Aunt/Cousin/Cousin’s 4 kids still live in the Kaimuki home he bought.

Green is because I’m a commoner in Kanaka Maoli society. Yellow is our royalty, the Ali’i, and Red is for the equivalent of the noble class.

You’re so pretty! 🥰🥰🥰

Thanks very cool - I know very little about the stories of the Polynesian peoples - and what I know is probably wrong and more influenced by popular culture and the State of Hawaii's marketing team. And maybe ancient aliens LOL

How’s yours
I've been all lazy. Until after 11pm I realise I haven't wrapped the presents that are going to my sister's family - hopefully in my mother's luggage and I will see mom tomorrow morning!

Now it's all wrapped up and I can finally relax again. The kids got a few tricky items to wrap - like a fedora, and a not quite small plush bunny (an angry bunny, actually... My niece is just on the verge of teenage, still liking plushies.)

I still have my Dom's presents to wrap. And I haven't even decided on what to give to my chosen daughter. I might need to visit her to get some ideas... Her true parents aren't very supportive. She's barely 18 and has moved out already 2 years ago. I'd guess she doesn't yet "have everything" as older people do.
