Pink Orchid 2023: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Thanks for doing this again. I considered a story for the previous event but could only get half way through. Now I'm trying to finish it for this coming year's event. Assuming it's completed on time, Omenainen, your feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yay! Better late than never! Welcome!

I might have one, depending on how quickly I can finish a few others…

Yay!

I haven’t started mine nor do I have any ideas. The winter competition is kind of my thing, so maybe something suitable for that.

Oooh! I’d like to think they most of my stories have women centric characters ;-) I’ll try and get something done. I already have a Christmas story percolating.

I have a nugget of an idea for VDay that could also fit this theme. It’s going to take me quite a bit of time however. Four months should do it.

I've started on a story that popped up from a random comment made by a friend. The background won't fit any comp but it will go nicely here.

Come, come y'all! Write me some sexy women!

I still haven't started mine, but now I'm kind of thinking about preparing to start to contemplate writing ;)

Bumping for the weekend. Now would be a good time to write a story for this event, think I! I’ve got one ready, and as it is not a winter themed story, I’m thinking of maybe writing another to include in that competition too. The deadline to that one is scarily close though.

I'm nearing the end of a story with a female protagonist who fits easily into the Pink Orchid event. The story theme may not fit as well, so I haven't decided yet whether to enter it in the event. Finding a category for it is also a problem.

The story I started and hoped would be Orchid worthy fizzled out and unfortunately I haven't felt the inspiration to start another at the moment. Unless inspiration strikes me out of the blue, I don't think I'll be in the event this time around.

We've got until the end of February! I've done about a quarter or less of mine...

I'm unlikely to have anything for the Winter contest though, unless I pull my usual cheat of writing a story and then tweaking it to relate to the contest theme.

I've got a first draft done, but likely won't get back to it until after the first of the year, so I am really glad for the long notice.

My poem, Windmills, was posted today in the non-erotic poetry section. It is written from the point of view of a woman who repairs giant windmills. But she meets another woman who has equal agency. This will be my Pink Orchid 2023 story.

This sounds fascinating! The submission window for Pink Orchid stories hasn’t started yet, so I’m not sure if that will be included in the final list? Did you put the note to admin?

The story to go along with the poem is still in draft. I will wait for the window to open up before submitting it.

Even more fascinating! I wish I could write poems to complement and cross reference my stories, but sadly poetry is beyond me in any language.

This is terrific. I haven't yet done a challenge here and I've been looking forward to participating in one. Then this pops up and it's a perfect match for my current story WIP. As a new writer with only two stories published, critiques and criticisms are welcome. You can't hurt my feelings. See you around.

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but do the stories appear on Lit as they are accepted or on Pancake Day? I can see the list is published then.

I'm about done polishing mine. I probably wouldn't have written it without the Pink carrot, so thank you. I always do a good deal of research for the background to my stories which has resulted in me learning about women's soccer and physiotherapy (I've also developed a huge crush on a particular England player). I think I could switch careers now and bluff my way through! :)

I'm going to post something for this mid-December.

A lesbian story, revolving around a young buisnesswoman who makes a bra, and the stages she goes through.

And I think the implication is also that the who, what, where, when and especially why of the bedroom fun have to make sense for her as a person, not just what the (male) reader finds exciting.
That, and it's not sufficient for the author to know the character is rational and consistent. The readers have to know it, too. That's a pretty low bar for characterization, but it's one that's easily tripped over.
