I thought I'd try a story with a bit more depth. I want to write characters people want to root for. Instead of the usual 'Sex is fun.' I want readers to go, "Yeah, girl! You go get yourself some!" So it will start off with a bit more backstory. It will conclude with a woman's BFF and her BFF's husband inviting her over to record them making a home movie. What she doesn't know is she will be 'Part of the Show.' And that won't even be my signature twist ending.

"Let's go in," I said.

I've written, submitted, and had published my first chapter of what I believe will be a multi-chapter story of a middle-aged woman and an older photographer who take months planning a boudoir photo session. She lives out west, he lives in Florida, and it takes time to get the schedules coordinated to make the shoot possible. The story opens as he arrives at the beachside hotel for the session.

After a bit of a gap I have today published my latest story - for this one I tried to keep it short.

Having written it I was struggling for a title but then something I saw reminded me of a very old television series that went by the title of Tales of the Unexpected! - basically what seems like an everyday activity or event is suddenly turned into something quite dark and unexpected. I tried a couple of things. One is I headed each section with the day’s date, effectively creating a countdown to Christmas for the reader.

The other thing is the town that Ellie inherited. It’s car-free. So he story explores what life might be like in a town without vehicular traffic, as well as telling the main plot thread about Ellie of course.

It‘s my first lesbian story and only the second I’ve told from a female perspective. 22,000 words. I hope you enjoy.
