California does a great job of promoting itself as a great place to live; a free/liberal society compared to other places.

But how free and liberal is california, really?

Age of Consent California 18
Most other places 16

Drinking age Cali/USA 21
Most other places 18/19

Strictest gun laws: California

Most Litigious State: California

Highest Personal Tax Burden: California

Most Unauthorized Immigrants: California

Plus:

Worst Air Quality: California

Most Water Problems: California

Most Fires: California

Most Earthquakes: California

Note
“Liberal” - Middle English: via Old French from Latin liberalis, from liber ‘free (man)’. The original sense was ‘suitable for a free man’, hence ‘suitable for a gentleman’ (one not tied to a trade), surviving in liberal arts . Another early sense ‘generous’ (compare with liberal (sense 4 of the adjective)) gave rise to an obsolete meaning ‘free from restraint’, leading to liberal (sense 1 of the adjective) (late 18th century).

I thought age of consent in Cali was anything with teen at the end of it, but Newsome is working on lowering it.

There are some mega rich areas of California that when tossed in with the rest of the state bring up the averages in statistics. Take away San Diego and other well to do areas, it's the left's biggest inner city ghetto.

If all the pedophiles are in LA, then why is the age of consent so high?

Droughts, fires, mudslides, Earthquakes, insane smog, and depending on the area appalling homelessness and crime rates...
I don't know why anyone would move there(short of having enough money to live in one of the clean big $$$ areas), but I see why so many are moving out of there, including celebs.

Who said they are all in LA? Most are in Hollywood, Silicon Valley and the politicians homes. As for consent? That's a technicality. Think of it in the sense of if you forced yourself on a woman its rape, but if an NFL player does it, she didn't have to give consent.

Consent is a double standard term.

The legal drinking age is now 21 in the U.S. nationwide; I believe it was either Carter or Reagan (Circa 1980/1981) who passed a federal mandate that raised the drinking age to 21 in the states where it had originally been 18.

Much of California's problems stem from simple overcrowding, and a lack of resources, and sometimes, a lack of willingness, to lower the property/violent crime statistics. Sadly, that state does have an inordinate amount of "nanny state" laws compared to some of the more libertarian-leaning states, like neighboring Nevada for example.

Age of consent laws also vary in how they are enforced. It is illegal for someone over 21 to have a sexual affair with a 16 year old in most places, however in some jurisdictions, if one partner is between 18-20 (and within 3 years of the "Victim") the state will not prosecute. Or, it is legal only if the person under 18 has the consent of a parent, otherwise it is still a sex crime. And I believe while it is legal to MARRY at 16, sleeping with an unmarried 16-18 year old will still land you on the sex-offender registry (I believe this is the case in Idaho and Utah but I could be wrong.)

Yah, i see how the point is lost on you, along with the sarcasm.

1. What bill did Newsom work on to make that happen?
2. What?

You really need to slither back under that rock, dipshit.

Where the fuck do you think Hollywood is if not LA?
How many Cali politicians have been busted for that?
When did your brain finally give the fuck up?

Double the Regulations

“With 395,608 regulatory restrictions, California is the most heavily regulated state in the nation, according to the report.

On average, states have 135,000 regulatory restrictions in administrative rules, with California's regulations more than doubling the national average.”

Why do you care? Like vetteman, botboi, and boomerror, you can't afford to live here.

California's K-12 education system was once the model for the rest of the nation, it's now ranked 37th. and falling.

California quit being "liberal" in the classical sense years ago.

I find that the self-identifying american liberals here are quite closed-minded and more “my way or the highway” type autocrats than the conservatives.

Strange.

Nah. My welfare checks are always on time. My roommate must have cashed it. Also, I’m only 2 weeks late so your lame attempt to take a shot at me failed miserably on a few different levels. And my pet gerbil and I will have nowhere to go if you throw us out. Thank you for your kindness, boomermaster
Ok, ok.

You should take a cue from Que and stop posting to or about Luk. You could ask him directly but he was forced to commit Liticide out of embarrassment from trying to fuck with Luk.

Take Luk’s warning seriously folks. He’s not afraid to talk to the manager.

Since that link is from the Cato Institute, it's safe to assume they define "economic freedom" as absolute laissez-faire rules where any worker protections whatsoever are "communistic". Always consider the source.

There's an old Byron quote floating around concerning the difference of how the conservatives treated him when he bitched about Bush vs how he was treated by the "progressives" when he bitched about Obama.

The best part is… i don’t think they realize what little hitlers they are.

Ah invoking "St. Byron" to further your #PerpetualVictimhood. We haven't seen that for a while.

Good ole Byron provides a good roadmap for your inevitable demise: He was a nerd (resetting passwords as a level 1 helpdesk numpty), had no "real" friends, was ultraconservative until he suffered a life-changing illness (then he turned on a dime and embraced all the government-based medical care), and was found slumped over his computer two to three days after he died, alone, wearing nothing but tighty-whities with an orange stain in the front of them, a bag of Cheetos on the floor next to his computer chair.

But hai, he spoke Latin!
