Gives support to my contention that most people overcook sweet corn. It doesn't take much.

Youngest child has been in charge of dinner this week, because the rest of us have been busy.
So far we have had:
Pita with tuna, cucumber and mint youghurt sauce.
Meatballs and pasta with ketchup.
Nachos with grilled chicken and tomato.

I'm making Pitas tomorrow with minced meat and onions, and yoghurt sauce. :)

OMG! The ketchup on pasta cracks me up! I am SO gonna try that.

I can handle the ketchup on the meatballs but the pasta????

Haha, I know! It’s a thing here, especially when served to kids. Even restaurants often ask if you want ketchup with your pasta meal.
We never let the kids have it when having a pasta with sauce, but their grandmother would serve it like my daughter did.
I’ve come to accept it and in some kind of ironic way even like it, just hoping the Italian ancestry doesn’t haunt us.

I had elbow macaroni with ketchup, a bit of butter and black pepper as recently as last night. Got home late, hungry, cranky, needed food, fridge and freezer echoingly empty of anything that cooks fast, so it was time to whip out the classic from the student years. 😎

It was pretty nice for a change. Lots of memories.

Yup, elbow macaroni it was. :D

Thinking about making mushroom pizza with chanterelles and porcini. One way or other the mushrooms need to be used today or tomorrow at the latest. Pizza might be nice. :)

Or flammkuchen. It’s really good with mushrooms.

It ended up being a weird mix between flammkuxhen and poor pizza. Tasted good either way. I left it too thick and baking it was tricky. :)

It was the sort of dish where I chucked in things that needed to be used, so the sauce ended up being a mix of créme fraîche and Greek yogurt, some spring onion needed to be used so that’s there and the same was with most of the mushrooms - the mushies needed to be eaten stat.

Chanterelles and wood hedgehogs, because I found more wood hedgehogs today. No porcini like I planned yesterday, because I ate them on top of my midnight snack sandwich when I got home last night.
