Rapist-minded Republicans voted against The Right To Contraception Act

No need. It's not like you believe in states rights. Anti abortion fanatics sell whatever lie they need to advance the cause.

It'll cease being about states rights when you support a national ban. Just more idiocy.

What doesn't make sense is treating abortion like a moral issue and putting asinine limitations on it based on said morality.
Ironically, many people actually do treat obesity as a moral and personal failing. There is a lot more similarity in how people treat women who need abortions and the obese. The difference being that the medical treatment for obesity is not questioned. But abortion is.

bingo. You're right

Your Right-Wingers are despicable not just because they are now force breeding women,
but also because they show a lot of contempt towards the woman.

I would add to that: My hunch is that, should a woman (single, teen) decide to give birth to an unplanned child instead of aborting it,
they would still treat her like a squallor-prone slut.

Any chance you’re going to talk about “Rapist-Minded Republicans” and contraception?

Or is this just Adrina Abortion Anger Thread #9?

They absolutely do. The majority of the "pregnancy crisis centers" are set up as wealthyfare for the anti-abortion fanatics. (They get government money to gaslight women into not getting abortions.) After the women are no longer able to medically get an abortion they drop them like hot potatoes and then proceed to vote against every bit of social safety nets which would help these women and their children. Up to and including taking away food assistance. It is... disgusting.

it is an ethical grey area (what she carries versus hers/the father's wellbeing) one that should be debated/decided upon by the potential mother and maybe father.

It is not a moral issue, what Reps turned it into.
And even their offers of "support" are condescending. For them. "support" means helping the woman "gain insight", colonial psychiatry --like, not offering financial or emotional support.

I don't much consider it a moral issue because it is only the woman's body that is being used to develop and grow the embryo into a fetus and eventually to give birth to a baby. The sperm donor/father's body is not on the line for gestation. If she asks for his input because they are in a relationship or because she thinks it is important, that is her decision.

One of the things that I think has become muddled is because we have this colonial patriarchal bullshit is that we give too much consideration to the man. The reality is that while it is the man's sperm, it is the woman's body who is putting forth all the labor and all of the physical sacrifice. Further, is his sperm more important than her egg? If his sperm buys him some property rights, then what about her egg and it being her body?

Unlike other personal Health decisions, pregnancy involves the creation of new life.

There are moral and legal implications around the proper care of that new life, whether those who see abortion as birth control or removing a cyst want to admit it or not.

Most civilized countries have worked it out with clear parameters.

The USA hasn’t.

But that’s no surprise; yanks can hate each other on most any topic, just look around.

Interesting... Because -- re the first part, I was watching this Russian youtube channel the other day, and they'd invited this sweaty bald Greek-Orthodox priest.

Re what's happening in the States, he initially seemed very empathetic towards women, and he went on to say that women need far more support than Americans are currently offering. By support' he meant neither money, nor an ear to vent to, but 'supportive pastoral counselling to help them decide.
Looks like even people overseas are now jumping on the abortion issue gravy train.

One alteration for increased accuracy: pastoral counseling to guilt them into not having an abortion.

I don't think a lot of people were (and are) that aware of how pervasive wealthyfare really is.

I'm actually Very interested in the topic, could you please give me some links?

I'm interested because I see it as being peripherally related to colonial psychology, which fascinates me.
Unlike the Russian or German heavy boots, Rich Brits squashed dissent and extracted resources from their own poor or the colonised, through all these mental fuck-fuck games and 'insight-gaining' therapies and theories. Which many worldwide have now internalised. Russians tried that too with their KGB psychiatry, but it lacked finesse and traction.

but the irony is, Americans are the ones who spread and helped us all understand these issues.
If I ever tried or try to understand complex ethical issues, I'd choose an American book.

creepy how L/R radicals hijacked the country that bought sophisticated and honest debates to the World.
Or maybe it's always been like that, and the rest of us are only now seeing through the glossy propaganda???

Wealthyfare is the allocation of taxpayer money to, frankly, rich friends of politicians. It is widespread. Basically, there are a lot of people that use the government to make money. A lot of money.

Some American samples:
  • private prison system
  • charter schools
  • pregnancy crisis centers (and here's a good one, these are usually religious based organizations, so taxpayer money is supporting churches. Especially if one uses the "fungibility doctrine" - which is an irony of its own.)
  • military industrial complex (see Blackwater)
  • oil subsidies (that's a lot of fun, especially when we see record profits above their subsidies year after year)
  • farm subsidies (these are usually specific to the large farms)
  • government programs like PPP (recent studies have shown almost no money went to workers and all of it was hoarded and relegated to the top)
  • bank bailouts (see 2008 Great Recession)
  • etc etc etc

Here's one for the private prison system:
https://www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/money.html

Here's one for the charter schools:

One for pregnancy crisis centers:

One for the military industrial complex:

(mind you it's a bit of a right wing site, with a libertarian bent however.
For something from the other side of the aisle:

(may not load with a browser with an adblocker)

There's more but you get the idea.

Basically, rich folks - especially rich white folks - get more free money from the government than anyone else.

Americans are fond of claiming lots of things as theirs that aren’t.

Big bullshitters, highly insecure, very defensive when called out.

The numbers don’t lie; the USA is far below average in most metrics that are measured to determine the best places to live.
