This continues to be the wrong framing of the question - of course someone determined to do harm will find ways to do harm. The question is, what can you do to minimize their impact when they attempt to do so? Guns are simply easier to use to cause mass casualties by novices amongst readily available methods. They are also the most difficult to prevent. (Even by good guys with guns)
 
I grew up with guns. In high school, there were lots of pick up trucks in the parking lot belonging to students and teachers. Many of those trucks had gun racks in the rear window with guns in them. We didn't go around shooting each other.

You know the difference now?

Parents who have coddled their children. When the little one starts acting up, he gets soothing words rather than a swift smack on the ass. The younger generation has never had to endure the consequences of their actions. There are rules, but if you break them you are expressing your individuality, not deserving of punishment.

Permissive parents are the difference and the problem.

Hard to believe there was a time when Johnny Savage didn't have his hand out for the monthly government dole. But as we can see above, he grew up hard and he grew up mean.

I had access to an assault weapon. Only because I was part of the armed response reaction force in my area, The thought of mowing down a school, church, mall etc never crossed my mind. Now that we contracted out our security I no longer have need of this. What has crossed my mind is taking a truck load of liberals and dumping them in a township and see how long until they scream for help lol.

So what are the answers to this:

why do people in the USA need or want assault weapons, since you have police and no threat of attacks on your home?

What in society causes these mass shootings?

If guns were banned would the killings stopped or would they find other means?

What is the point of state by state laws if people can easily transport firearms across borders?

Do the anti firearm people just want to ban assault weapopns or all firearms? What then stops some one using a shot-gun, 9mm pistol, or any magazine fed semi-auto? By the way automatic is not the most efficient or accurate way of shooting. Double tap or drake shooting is, which is done on semi-automatic.

In the US we have nutter loners. In the rest of the world you have Jihadis. Is there really any difference between them?

What gets me is that for the rest of the world, it's perfectly acceptable to defend yourself against a Jihadi but in America defending yourself against a nutjob criminal gets you charged with a crime.

And then you talk about police. Are you meaning the police who stood around for an HOUR outside of the Uvalde Texas school where children were being slaughtered? Are THOSE the police you're going to depend on to show up to save YOU in the middle of the night after some deranged Night Stalker breaks into your house?

Or the police who stood around during the summer riots, excuse me "mostly peaceful arson and murder spree", and watched while innocents were attacked? THOSE police officers are the ones you're going to depend on to save you from a howling mob?

Don't be ridiculous.
 
Congressional candidate and former Massachusetts State Senator Dean Tran has been charged with intimidating an elderly constituent and then lying to investigators about stealing her firearms.

Attorney General Maura Healey announced Friday that the 46-year-old Republican from Fitchburg was arraigned Friday by a Worcester grand jury. Tran served in the Senate from 2017-2020. He is currently running for Congress against Democratic incumbent Lori Trahan.

At 10:34 a.m. on June 27, police responded to the 8200 block of Sous Vide Way to an Amazon Delivery station after a report of threats.

An officer spoke with multiple people there who said the suspect, identified as Aceves, was planning a mass shooting at the business.

Aceves was located and contacted by detectives. During the investigation “credible information to support the threat was developed,” and an AR-15 was seized from Aceves’ location.

I truly don't get why people have alts. I've been banned by one social network....you know what I did? I stopped visiting that social network.

And the whole thing about having multiple alts to pretend to be multiple people? Just go outside...find a hobby that is more productive.
