No, you don't. I've been brushing up me English this spring my reading tons of stories here in Lit. Some writers are really good, some have even turned to making money with it. And I mostly have never ever even chatted with them.

Reading books and newspapers is also good. And you can listen to online radio, audiobooks etc.

Exactly. Chatting for the sake of it is fine, but you really want to be adding something to the threads, making them a better place with your presence. Then people will be happy chat back.

We are no different here from any other people, except maybe more pervy than the average I have just participated in the fun, and have made friends. I have a tendency to answer in length sometimes - I have no idea whether I have made friends because of it or despite it And you already found Chaos, just jump in there if you can deal with all the bantering, it's a rowdy bunch there but very lovely people mostly.
