Story.

Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the basing could be funded by other countries such as Poland and the Baltics that want more U.S. troops. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said any effort to expand security in Eastern Europe is a “work in progress” that probably will be discussed at the NATO summit in June.

Milley and Austin were testifying before the House Armed Services Committee on the 2023 budget proposal, but much of the focus of the hearing was the Russian war against Ukraine and what the U.S. can do to better help Ukraine and strengthen security across Europe.
Milley was asked about the need to reallocate forces to Europe's eastern flank, where NATO allies are worried that they may be Russia's next target.

“My advice would be to create permanent bases but don’t permanently station (forces), so you get the effect of permanence by rotational forces cycling through permanent bases,” he said. “I believe that a lot of our European allies, especially those such as the Baltics or Poland and Romania, and elsewhere — they’re very, very willing to establish permanent bases. They’ll build them, they’ll pay for them.”
I guess it makes sense -- no matter how the present war ends, Russia will remain a threat so long as Putin is in power.

Well, this does indicate that NATO-led-by-the-U.S. is a paradigm that will survive for decades to come.

We should have been in there 4 weeks ago. Another sit back and watch a genocide take place and then send prayers and condolences. Now is the time to stand behind those morals Americans are so ready to demand of other countries. Are we a World leader? Or nothing but hot air?

Milley is a useless woke idiot. We need to shift more forces into the Pacific and find a real Chairman of the Joint Chiefs.

The press is reporting what is actually happening, which is that Russia is making war now while China only rattles its saber.
Hmmm... I wonder why the press isn't reporting what's actually happening in many parts of Africa. Genocide going on there too.

At present, China looks less dangerous than Russia.
Take off the rose-colored glasses.

The Chinese are in full-scale war with us on every level but shooting.
They seek to establish a regional hegemony, push us back to Hawaii, take Taiwan
and establish the RMB as the replacement for the dollar not to mention the slave labor to wage economic war.

The Nazis did that. Putin is only emulating Xi, he wants a Russian hegemony over Europe,
but he's trying to take shortcuts in strategy, thinking in terms only of his lifetime.
Xi and friends are thinking generationally.
We think to the next election.

And I've been saying it for weeks, to echo a post above,
the time to put more troops in theater was when
Putin was massing his troops for his
Hillary-esque, I'n not invading!

;) ;)

They have to cross in illegally from the Southern border to actually matter...

;) ;)

The press needs to concentrate more on the Triple Entente of Russia, China, and Iran, all three have visions of controlling vital seaways, Russian agression in Ukraine is but a part of that vision as it pursues control of the Black Sea and its northern and eastern coastal ports. Iran wants control of the Persian Gulf and the approaches to it in the Arabian Sea. China wants control of the South China Sea, Taiwan, the East China Sea, and control of the Senkaku Islands, the Solomon Islands. They are working together to achieve these goals.

All speculation. Meanwhile, there's an actual shooting war going on in Europe -- of course that's where the press's and the world's attention is focused.
