Beijing's implicit support for Ukraine thus far has come in the form of one oft-repeated phrase: "The sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country should be respected and safeguarded. The aims and principles of the UN Charter should be upheld. This is China's consistent position, and is it a basic norm governing international relations that all countries should subscribe to."
"China and Russia are comprehensive strategic partners of coordination. China-Russia relations are based on non-alliance, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third countries," ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said.

China's position on the Ukraine crisis is "based on the merits of the matter itself," he said, without elaborating. "We always stand on the side of peace and justice." He then reiterated a description of the situation as "complex," refusing to back Kyiv outright.

china will continue trading with russia and not apply sanctions, but seems to have been caught short in regard to the full extent of russia's intent to go to war.

chinese citizens were not evacuated from the Ukraine ahead of the invading troops and shelling, with china still saying the USA was playing up the threat of war. Now it has some 6,000 chinese citizens stuck in the Ukraine in danger because they cannot get flights out of the country.

After Russia's forces advanced into Kyiv-held territory and missile barrages began hitting military installations, Chinese officials in Ukraine were unable to arrange evacuation flights and could only ask citizens to stay put. Before fighting broke out, the Chinese Embassy in Kyiv advised citizens to remain indoors or affix Chinese flags to their vehicles if traveling by car. Some 24 hours later, that advice changed to seek shelter and not to actively reveal one's nationality.

Chinese state-owned news outlets reported what were said to be government-led efforts to charter planes for its citizens. But the embassy later said the conditions were not suitable for such an evacuation—the airspace had been long closed by then

Of course, that pronouncement leaves the PRC a loophole, since they have never recognized the sovereignty or independence of Taiwan. They can invade and call it a strictly internal matter.

They have a common interest in causing problems for the United States, but that's about it. China is neighbors with a country that's currently invading a different neighbor. It's not surprising they're a little wary.

Nevertheless, the international response to the invasion of the Ukraine is probably giving the Chinese dictatorship second thoughts on invading Taiwan.

It is simple ...a real Government and not one based on power and money...would look at what exactly comes from China and Russia...determine what is critical...and invest in creating the capability of creating those things here. This would eliminate the financial issues we are facing once again. How many times does this have to happen to where our Government says enough is enough? If we were energy independent...which is 100% possible...other than human rights issues...why would anyone care? The only reason Americans are upset is because once again they are paying $3.50 gal for gasoline. We don't give a fuck about our own citizens to wear a mask.
