I’m considering a typewriter againYep. I was seriously thinking to go back to letters. lol
I remember my dad writing his book on a typewriter and me checking it after. Making a bit the editorial role. Ah, nostalgia.I’m considering a typewriter again
Sitting down and expressing yourself with pen, or crayon in my case, to paper can be quite enjoyable. Much better than firing off a text or a quickly worded email.Yep. I was seriously thinking to go back to letters. lol
I loved letters. I still have the letters that my dad send me in HS. I cherish them.Sitting down and expressing yourself with pen, or crayon in my case, to paper can be quite enjoyable. Much better than firing off a text or a quickly worded email.
There's also a good feeling that comes from receiving a letter, knowing someone put in the effort to sit and write it.
As for technology, as someone who works in IT, I'll agree that there a most definitely pros and cons to how rapidly it has grown and become an integral part of our lives. It can both help, and hurt, immensely depending on what it is used for.
I remember in 2001, I was walking in Rome and by chance I found a small shop where they made these fountain pens but medieval style. Feather quill pen but not only. I bought a box with all the tools as a gift for dad. Not the he needed them in his work but they were so beautifully crafted that I couldn't resist. There were 3 sizes of pens with a small ink bottles and papers to write that looked like parchment.I’m getting back into calligraphy, which I was taught as a young teenager. I was able to get a simple fountain pen set from Michael’s Crafts. The arthritis makes it harder to hold the pen, but I powered through it to create a handmade Hogwarts acceptance letter for my nephew when he turned 11.
I need to do that more, but I find I have less to say
Outside of my socializing here, I don't do social media at all for the reasons you noted. I just cannot deal with all the noise. Too bad because there were a number of message boards I was fairly active on years ago.I guess it did became easier to shout, insult, call names, gaslight, virtue signal, perform "activism" from the couch.
I use them very little. But I'm thinking of cancelling. At least twitter which is really a shit fest.Outside of my socializing here, I don't do social media at all for the reasons you noted. Housing costs have gotten so bad in the States that it is just so hard for people to get out of apartments. Not sure how it is in the Milan area.I use them very little. But I'm thinking of cancelling. At least twitter which is really a shit fest.
I don't like FB either but I do have relatives and friends there. Although, I'm thinking those who want to talk with me have my phone number. Geezers, people don't even talk on the phone anymore. It's all about texting.
I'm actually also seriously thinking to buy a house outside Milan. I love my apartment and the neighborhood where I am. I love the fact that I have all these small shops around, the coffee, the butcher, the pastry shop, my hair dresser, my beauty salon etc. I have two subway station close and I mostly walk in the city and use public transport. But I feel like I need my "hobbit hole" now, and I need some big walls around me. lol
I saw some really nice one for 150.000-180.000 Euros. Mine can be sold for double that price. We'll see because I saw one which I adore. It has a fresco on the wall and arched colonnades on the veranda and windows. That would be my dream house but although the walls are in very good conditions and the roof was recently done, the inside is to be re-made completely.Housing costs have gotten so bad in the States that it is just so hard for people to get out of apartments. As someone lucky enough to have been able to buy years ago, and am now mortgage free, I must say it's so nice to be able to come home to your own place, even if the houses in my area are fairly close together. At least there aren't folks on the other side of my walls, ceiling, and floors.
The ability to be in a neighborhood and to be able to walk to shops, restaurants, etc. might be to leave. I love waking down to the village about a mile from me for coffee or a drink.
I'm not big at talking on the phone or texting, but get me face to face and I may just talk your ear off.
Best of luck in finding what you're looking for when you start your search.I saw some really nice one for 150.000-180.000 Euros. Mine can be sold for double that price. We'll see though. Next year is going to be the right time to look for it. I do have a house in the mountains.
I'm not big at talking on the phone either. My mom is eternally displeased with me for that because I call once a week and don't stay for hours like my sister. lol But when you are not close you have to keep in touch with your people, somehow. In that case, I prefer the voice rather than texting.
Thank you.Best of luck in finding what you're looking for when you start your search.![]()

Oh I like that. I don’t understand it (thanks for the translate) but the way it sounds is nice.
Lipstick and Chocolate
You need passion
a lot of patience
raspberry syrup
and a little recklessness
You need flour
of your own bag (you need to do it yourself*)
with Latin sensuality
and a little detachment
That's how it's done
Lipstick and chocolate
because not eating them would be a sin
That's how it's done
it needs to simmer
mixing it with feeling
Black stockings
white milk
and you can see already
it slowly starts building up
It's almost done
a bit of powdered sugar
the mouth is satisfied
and heaven in the room
That's how it's done
to start the game
and you slowly chew at it
That's how it's done
the table is set
for the heart and for the palate
It will be overwhelmingly beautiful
letting yourself live to the fullest
so sweet and unseemly
with the nice sins this always happens
You need luck
for it to work
shivers up your spine
and good ingredients
It's almost done
a bit of powdered sugar
the mouth is satisfied
and heaven in the room
That's how it's done
to start the game
and you slowly chew at it
That's how it's done
the table is set
for the heart and for the palate
It will be beautiful and overwhelming
Letting yourself live to the fullest
So sweet and unseemly

It’s interesting listening to it if I close my eyes I see a girl dancing at a club from a lifetime ago. I don’t know why. She wasn’t Italian. The club wasn’t Italian. It was more along the lines of VNV Nation or Shriekback (Good choice. She is among the goddess of the Italian music.
