lose any sleep over them or even discuss/contemplate their future.
We should most assuredly stop threatening them with NATO.
It is just simply their business and none of ours.

Doing any of the above is only saber-rattling and

and become nothing more than a prelude to war.

We don't want war, so by sating Putin's ambition
to reunite Ukraine and Russia, we will make him
feel more secure, sate his desire for a little living

Russians have a deep paranoid streak caused by centuries of being invaded from every corner o the Earth. There are few natural barriers to invasion. So they seek to surround themselves with neighbors that are, at minimum, not hostile. They see NATO, somewhat justly, as hostile and thus are not amenable to having Ukraine as part of that body.

Given their location, I think it wise for Ukrainian leaders to make peace with Russia and vow neutrality. That's the only way out of this impasse, I believe.
